I felt like a pretty lucky gal when Suave contacted me about a new product line they were launching. They said they had read my rave review about their dry shampoo (the one that smells like lemony-goodness) and they wanted to send me a product from their new line that they think I’d love.
A few weeks later, I came home to find a special shiny surprise on my doorstep. I opened a box full of metallic gold strips and inside of that box was a bottle of Suave’s new keratin dry shampoo (I love pretty packaging, it always makes everything feel more special!)
I was intrigued. Was it different than the lemon-scented one I already use (and love)? I waited a few days to try it out so that I could use it on hair that really needed dry shampoo.
At first, I was surprised by the scent. It was not at all like the lemony scent of the original—but it grew on me and now I quite enjoy it. It is fresh smelling and not at all overwhelming. I also noticed that it does not deposit white residue onto your roots (which can be rubbed out of course, but for ladies with super dark hair this is a great benefit).
Overall, I am happy with this dry shampoo and have been putting it into the rotation. Here is what Suave says about the dry shampoo:
This refreshing dry shampoo formulated with KERALOCK™ TECHNOLOGY contains keratin and absorbs oils to help clean your hair so it’s refreshed, smooth and manageable between regular washes.
Contains keratin & absorbs oils to:
- Refresh hair
- Extend your blowout
- Revive volume
I have not tried other products from Suave’s keratin line, but I am curious about Color Care Lower Sulfate Shampoo and Conditioner.
This dry shampoo and other products from the line should be available in stores now. Part of the reason I waited to post my review is so that if you wanted to try it, you wouldn’t have to wait months to do so.
Have you tried any products from Suave’s keratin line or do you plan to? Let me know in the comments below!
xoxo,
Veronika.

I'm interested in knowing how long the bottle lasts. I liked the effects of the Suave Dry shampoo, but when I bought a bottle I was only able to use it three times before the product ran out.
Anita says
Ditto!! This happened to me with 2 bottles and to my friend's bottle also, it seems to leak out of the tube. If you contact Suave they will give you a free suave product coupon. Sucks too because it's a great product.
Robyn - Life on Carolina says
How does it compare to the original? Is there much difference?
Laura says
I will have to try this – I have dark hair – its a huge plus that you mentioned no white residue on the roots! Thanks for the information!

Oh I'll have to keep an eye out! I actually haven't used my suave in a while, but it sounds like this one is my ally!

@rebecca— a lot of people have had that problem with the suave dry shampoo but it has never happened to me–I know if you call them they will send you a new can.
Robyn— I think the formulas are very similar. I almost want to say that the keratin one does help promote a smoothness to the hair—whereas other formulas (including the original suave dry shampoo and others like serge normant or plain ol' baby powder) have more of a "dry" residue to them if you know what I mean. This ones seems to apply a little more…sheer….not sure if that is the right word.
Laura—it probably depends on how heavily you apply it, but I haven't noticed a white residue with it. Most dry shampoos rub right out if there is residue anyway, so that's a good thing 🙂

Thanks for the review! I like the original, so I'll definitely want to try this one out as well.
How would you describe the scent for this one since you said it's not as lemony.
Mrs. V* says
I love the original dry shampoo, so I am excited to try this one out. I actually find the lemon scent to be a bit too strong for me, so I am glad that this one has a less overpowering scent.
[email protected] says
@kate—it's more on the fresh side—almost like a very very light men's cologne (not at all offensive)
[email protected] says
@mrs.v- the first time i used it the scent seemed strong, but i think it is less strong than the lemon scent and as I got used to it the smell didn't seem strong at all 🙂
Vida says
I want to love dry shampoo, but so far the ones that I've tried haven't been the miracle products I expect them to be. I still love to try them, and I will def check this out in the stores!
[email protected] says
@vida—try this trick—firt spray dry shampoo on your roots—then brush it or rub it out and apply a very small sprinkling of baby powder onto your roots. It works for me if I need an extra boost 🙂

Hmm I'm going to try this if I can get my hands on it here in Vancouver. I use the batiste at the moment and love it, but I'm always game to try something new.

Thank you for thenew product review!

I'll have to try it out because I have super dark brown/black hair and sometimes it's hard to get all of that white reside rubbed in. I had the same problem with a couple of the cans of Suave Dry Shampoo, I think the problem was the can itself because I could actually hear a hissing sound of the aersol leaking out so I think theres an ample amount of product in each can but the issue lies in the packaging. Can't wait to try this one though- thanks for the review!

Sold! I'm almost out of my current dry shampoo (Tresemme). I liked it a lot when I first bought it, but not anymore. I think the deal breaker is the super powdery white residue it leaves behind. I have really dark hair, so even with a lot of rubbing, it's hard to get out. I am definitely trying this one!
Kari says
Darn it I just bought a new can of the original formula – can't wait for it to run out so I can try the new stuff!
Tracy Davis says
I'll definitely give this a shot – the Tresemme dry shampoo doesn't seem to be doing it anymore!
Allison says
I am a huge fan if the original Suave dry shampoo but since dying my hair darker I've notice the white residue more. I will definitely be picking this up on my next Target trip.
Rosanna says
I've used the Suave dry shampoo before. I liked it, except for the fact that I was only able to use it once. The next time I tried to, the bottle was empty?? This happened twice and then that is when I switched over to Tresemme. I thought something was wrong when my closet smelled like the dry shampoo ALL the time, lol. I guess it was leaking out or something.

The keratine concept is new as also the dry shampoo concept and therefore they should make an interesting combination.I would love to try this product…does it look into the frizzy condition of the hair?
Megan @ Tales of an HBS Wife says
How nice of them! After reading your review, I picked up the original Suave dry shampoo and used it today – I love it! So much better than the Tresemme version!
Lori Supek says
sounds great, I like the dry shampoo and love the price too. What's the price of this one??

Ooooh I didnt even know this existed! I ONLY use the Suave dry shampoo. After trying about 10 others, it is by far the best and a great price. I will def. pick this up next time I'm shopping!

I'm glad you posted this I've been using the suave dry shampoo that you reviewed and I love it except that I have dark hair so I spend more time rubbing out the white residue. I'm going to check this one out.

I have been on the hunt for the perfect dry shampoo, I will definitely try this one!

After reading your review I purchased the dry shampoo from this line. Having never used dry shampoo before I was a tad nervous, but now I am hooked!

@anon I am so glad you love it 🙂

Ditto on the leaky bottles. I bought one bottle, used it once, went to use it again, but it was empty. Figured it was just a faulty bottle. But then I bought a second bottle, and it did the exact same thing. It's a shame – this product smells great, soaks up oil well, and gives great volume. If it weren't for the bottle/nozzle design flaw, then I would totally recommend it. However, the product leaking after one application is ridiculous. I'm going to call Suave and get replacement bottles. If they leak again, then I'm switching products for good.
