Experimenting with new hair styles has me convinced that I need to try them more often. Every time I switch it up a little, I get lots of nice feedback from co-workers who are used to my same-old look everyday. It’s so easy to get stuck in that rut of never trying something different because it’s easier to just go on auto-pilot in the mornings and style your hair the couple of ways you always do. That’s why I’m glad someone’s taken all of the guesswork out of creating these styles so they’re easy enough for the average non-hair pro to achieve.
Today’s style is something ideal for a date night or other special occassion. It’s not too fussy, totally easy to do (it took me way less time than the first hairstyle I tried) and it’s overall just a nice, soft, voluminous look.
I followed the tutorial above by the lovely It’s Judy Time and I absolutely loved the results. The only difference is that I curled my hair instead of keeping it straight. I created this style on third day hair, so having a little curl gave me extra volume to work with and also really brought out my newly touched-up ombre color.
The thing I love most about this style is the volume it offers at the crown. It really sets it apart from an everyday style, but it’s not so fancy that you can’t wear it to work, Iike I am today. You also have the option to middle or side-part this style, but I chose a middle part since that’s more my day-to-day look. It might be fun to try a side part with the front pieces for a night out.
All you’ll need to recreate this look is a teasing comb, some bobby pins, a brush and if you want curls like me, a curling iron and some hairspray.
Here’s how it turned out:

Sorry, I'll be the first to say it. Reminds me of Snooki.
Not your best look. 🙂

You have the most beautiful hair Veronika (I think I've told you this many times now!)
I love your hair posts, so keep them up please 🙂
CHAS says
I used to do that when my hair was longer! Kind of looks like a Bumpit. 🙂

@courtney- LOL at the Snooki comparison…maybe if paired with a dark spray tan and a ton of makeup… 😛

Love it. Your hair is beautiful.
Kimberlee says
Beautiful! I think it would look really great if you pulled back more of the hair in the front, like the girl in the tutorial did. You have such a pretty face, I wouldn't hide so much of it behind hair in the front 😉 I love your ombre!

I like how it looks in the original video but not the way yours turned out. It gives your head a cone-shaped look. Not my fave, sorry.

I love the simplicity, yet fanciness of this style. But I have to agree with Kimberlee here- I think if you were to pull back more hair it would give it a more finished/polished look. Right now it looks like you got interrupted half way through the process.
Thank you for sharing the turtorial and for taking the time to try it out!

I'm guilty of never switching it up either but I tried the last hair tutorial that you posted and I loved it. I'm going to try this one too. Both are great every day looks that add a little extra oomph. You look gorgeous btw and your curls are perfection.

Looks very cute! Your color looks really great in these photos! May I ask who is your new hairdresser?
Jenny @ Prim New Englander says
I love it! 🙂 As cute as always, V!
(Also, I think you meant spell 'whether' as such vs. 'weather' towards the end of your post.)
– Jenny

This is a perfect look for you…right on for changing it up! However, you did leave a lot of hair out from the front, which makes it look unfinished. I think you need a little practice at this one and it would look much better.
