Dressing for this office isn’t always fun. There, I said it. Sometimes, I look at the doctors and nurses in their scrubs and I think to myself “yes.” Yes to all of that.
Yes to wearing the same, comfy thing everyday and not asking myself when the last time I wore that dress was or having moments where I come to the realization that I’ve worn the same pair of pants three days in a row.
Yes to never wearing heels, ever, and instead having an awesome collection of brightly colored running shoes.
I definitely feel a sense of burnout sometimes coming up with new outfits. I’ll have one week where I love getting dressed each morning and try to come up with new outfit combos, and others where I throw on a “uniform” and call it a day.
It hasn’t helped that we are in between seasons right now in stores and nothing is really giving me that “must have it in my closet” feeling. Hopefully as new fall styles roll in, I’ll be re-inspired.

The grass is totally ALWAYS greener 😉 I would kill to dress up for work everyday instead of putting on my grungy old frumpy scrubs. haha seriously, I feel like I've lost all sense of personal style because on work days I wear scrubs and on days off yoga pants!
Love this outfit and pattern mixing!

Totally! I love the idea of wearing scrubs but I'm sure it would get boring. On the other hand, I wouldnt' spend as much on clothes haha…I totally wear yoga pants all weekend- especially after a week or skirts and dresses!

I work in a lab and am so thankful that I am able to roll out of bed and be out the door in 10-15 minutes. None of the women I work with even wear makeup to work. It's honestly quite nice.

I totally get where your coming from. After having to dress up everyday, I'm welcoming scrub when my career calls for that.

Polka dots + stripes = awesome 🙂 I have been on both sides and I have concluded that as women, we will never be satisfied haha Just wait until Fall rolls around…you are gonna LOVE dressing up for work. I think having to dress up in 100 degree weather must be illegal somewhere. 🙂

Ha ha ha! I hear ya! I've worked out a system where I hang my clothes up based on when I last wore them so the outfits on the left haven't been worn recently. It's been working great!

Completely agree with you! Luckily my office is pretty casual. I didn't feel like dressing up today, so I'm in jeans! But this Houston weather is so hard! It's about to be my first "Fall" here and I don't even know if I should start investing in too many cool weather pieces, I've heard it doesn't start to fill chilly until late Nov/Dec. Sad!!
PS: love the new blog design & those earrings!

Hi Alice! Welcome to Houston 🙂 I love it here—but the others are right, it really doesn't get that cold here until much later. Dressing for this heat can be a challenge because the last thing you want to do when it's sweltering out is to get all dressed up. No thank you! Have a great day 🙂

Ha! And we docs look at all the great business clothes we have no use for and think, "how fun and cute!" Still, drawstring pants are very nice now and then :). Great outfit, as usual!

You're actually really lucky! It seems that you have a much more casual office than a lot of people. Sleeveless dresses and blouses, opentoed 'sandals' and chambray shirts would never fly in my old office. Love your new earrings!!!

My office is all over the place. There are seriously people who wear yoga pants and hoodies and casual cotton dresses. A lot of us girls wear chambray, but I only do on days I don't have meetings. I wouldn't meet with doctors or administrators in chambray. I also don't go sleeveess at work or to meetings. It's just so hot out that I don't take photos with the blazer or sweater I wear when I get to my office 🙂 in terms of open toed shoes- it's pretty common and accepted in Texas. Some people in my office wear flip flops which I think goes too far. I would say of our entire office, our team and our internal communications team is the most dressed up.

I definitely think it goes both ways. I got super excited to wear scrubs in the beginning but now I miss dressing up and relish doing it whenever I can. It is nice not having to put much thought into what I'm wearing, but I feel like I hardly wear my clothes now and have to force myself to not spend any money on outfits I'm hardly wearing. lol

Love the earrings and the jewelry tray — I'm in the market for one. Where did you get it?
Thanks!
