Happy Friday! My favorite blogger posts to read are ones that contain the most random mish-mash of stuff, so I hope today’s random Friday Five is a good one!
WHAT I’M READING
I finally started an audio book via my Audible subscription I purchased on Amazon Prime day and I selected Lauren Wiesberger’s When Life Gives You Lululemons. I listen to podcasts all the time, but had never listened to an audio book so I wanted to start with something light. I’m on chapter five and love it so far. It took a few minutes to get used to the voice actor portraying all of the characters, but now I love it and the book is great so far!
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
My obsession with the British Royal family continues. I discovered the Royally Obsessed Podcast and the On Heir Podcast and they’re both amazing and totally addictive. The latter has British hosts and I live for their accents. Also, how amazing is this dress that Meghan wore to the Sentebale Polo Cup?!
WHAT I’M BAKING
After seeing Jessica’s gorgeous kitchen reveal this week, I saw she shared the book Sweet Laurel: Recipes for Whole Food, Grain-Free Desserts and immediately purchased it! Harper and I love to bake together and I’d like to make it a more frequent occurrence. I was hoping we could select one new recipe to try every few weeks – I’ll report back!
BIG BOY ROOM!
Lincoln will be 3 in October and I’m starting to plan his big boy room (go here for my Pinterest inspiration board). As always, I’m going for a clean and airy look. I like kids rooms to have fun and colorful accents while still matching the feel of the rest of our home. Harper had a really neutral nursery but her big girl room is mint green, has pink and white gingham curtains and lots of colorful accents, so I can’t wait to update Lincoln’s space too.
I’m probably going to go with the black Jenny Lind bed (I wanted navy but can’t find it anywhere) and it’s also 15% off right now! I was considering this bed, but I’ve learned it only comes in a twin and we like full beds in the kids rooms. Edited to add: I did end up ordering the Jenny Lind bed on sale!
I’m also considering this one, but to be honest, I almost want to “save” this style of bed for a pre-teen or teen room. Jenny Lind beds are incredibly classic and I can see how they’re not the best fit for a teen room – but we will be in another house by then and teens like to have their rooms re-done anyway. The resale value on Jenny Lind beds is also excellent, so I’m not too worried about it.
HOW WE’RE GIVING BACK
I partnered with Kroger this week to share an important initiative – their Backpack Booster program. Read more about it here, because every single child deserves to start off the school year on the right foot and having all the school supplies they need to be successful.
