I love wearing loose tops. They’re comfortable and breezy for summer. One of my favorite ways to wear a loose top to the office is to tuck it into a pencil skirt. In fact, I think pretty much any top looks amazing tucked into a pencil skirt and it’s one of my best “dressing for the workplace” tips.
It’s like a mathematical formula: pencil skirt+tucked in blouse= perfect work outfit. I like to keep it fun by adding long necklaces, belting my skirts, wearing a blazer on top and wearing bright colors and prints. It’s about taking that formula and expanding on it. See, math can be fun.
Today’s outfit features the second J.Crew No. 2 double serge cotton pencil skirt I got on sale for $34.99. As you can see, these do wrinkle more than the double serge wool, but they are perfect and lightweight for summer and they’re a nice alternative to a neutral pencil skirt. Adding a pop of color is usually done with tops, but lately I’ve been enjoying colored bottoms even more.
Do you tend to wear more colored tops or bottoms?

The purple looks great! I also have to agree with your math equation! 🙂

You look great V! I think you are meant for pencil skirts. I like balancing proportions. Tighter on top means looser on the bottom or vice versa. Because I'm bigger on the bottom, I usually wear darker colors there and go brighter on top. Usually 😉

I need more colour in my life. Love this combo you're wearing.

I wear loose tops all the time during the summer. U tend to wear mine with slim pants, since I don't think I can pull off pencil skirts.

Great combo! I used to wear more color on top but lately it's been more colored bottoms.
Today I wore the same skirt in neon pink and a bright blazer. Definitely stepping out of my comfort zone.

I wish I could wear skirts to work, because I love the look of a tucked in shirt. Not being able to have a high waisted bottom really limits your choice in tops sometimes!
I tend to stick to very neutral bottoms (black skinny jeans/dark denim bootcuts) and try to have the color on top. I got suckered into the colored pants trend, but realized quickly it wasn't really for me. Wish I had figured that out before I bought the jeans!

Seriously gorgeous outfit!
But in all honesty, you're wearing the outfit, not the other way around.

I love that you matched your skirt with your bag, but you left your shirt white so it wouldn't look so overpowering (: love it !

As always you look great V! I tend to wear bights on top because I'm smaller on top than on the bottom. Although I did buy the Neon Pink Rose J.Crew pencil skirt and paired it with a navy polka-dot blouse. I've received many complements so i want to try more figure faltering bottoms in bright colors! Thanks for letting us know about these Great J.Crew Skirts!

Love the outfit! Pencil skirt + blouse is absolutely one of my go-to combos, it's pretty easy to put together in the morning because a solid colored skirt makes everything foolproof!
Traditionally I'm more of a colored tops kind of person, but I've been trying to expand into colored pants (mostly muted pastels though, I haven't gotten too crazy with brights!). Skirts are fair game though, bright or otherwise.

Lovin' this shade of lavender and purple on you, Veronika!! 😉

Veronika! I've just started reading your blogs as of late and have been a big fan since! I actually just went to my local J.Crew to check these skirts out and they are on sale even further with an additional 30% off making those desirable skirts $24.49! Just thought I'd share that with you and thanks again for sharing! 🙂
