Today, my bestie Candice and I hit the outlets on 290 to find some deals. Lately we’ve been tired of our regular trips to the Galleria and Memorial City, so we decided to venture out to expand our retail horizons.
I am not a great outlet shopper. What I mean by that is that I don’t just buy things because they are cheap. I truly only focus on buying things I love, no matter what the cost or what store they are from. Just because a t-shirt is $5, I don’t feel the need to buy it unless I need it or it is truly an item that is so unique and awesome, that I fall in love with it.
In fact, I’ve scored so little at outlets that people were shocked to learn I bought only 2 items when I went to the San Marcos outlets (a $3 storage box from Crate & Barrel and a makeup travel bag from Victoria’s Secret.) I just didn’t think the deals were that great, and a lot of the merchandise was stuff that didn’t sell well in stores or was super outdated. I just wasn’t impressed. Also, the prices aren’t that great in most stores, especially the designer ones. Saving $50 on a lukewarm item just isn’t that appealing to me. I prefer to shop sales in mall stores on more current merchandise.
Today was a good day at the outlets for me, courtesy of BCBG MaxAzria.
Here’s what I got:
The skirt above looks super cute on. It was originally $178, and I got it for $49 (!!!!!!!). It’s a size 4. I will be sure to do an OOTD when I wear it, because I don’t own anything like it. Candice actually convinced me it was too cute not to buy, and she ended up buying one for herself too!
The skirt above was originally…I think $138? I got it for $65. I love the pleats at the top and the little belt. I had actually seen this skirt in the non-outlet BCBG store and admired it from afar, but the price tag was too much. I was thrilled to find it at the outlet. Also, it is my first navy-blue skirt. Size 4.
My final purchase was this gorgeous top. I was immediately attracted to the colors, as I don’t own anything green, and I don’t own a lot of navy either. The flutter sleeves are so cute. It just looks really cute on. I love that it cinches at the waist but can also been worn loose with skinny jeans. It also looks awesome tucked into a skirt. I was surprised at how much I loved this top actually. I just tried it on because the colors were cute together, but it ended up being a win in all categories. It was on sale for $49. Originally probably $100-120. Size small.
One of my lovely readers asked me to post what I wear on weekends. Typically I am in LuluLemon stuff, because I go to pilates Saturday mornings. Today, I was all ready to go and then I had girl issues (cramps) and decided to skip the class because I was just not feeling well and didn’t want to have to struggle through it. So today I wore this on our shopping trip:
So yeah, pretty casual. That’s what I love about LuluLemon and PH8T workout clothes. You can go from the pilates studio to the mall and not feel like a complete slob. The clothes are made with that in mind. Plus, LuluLemon pants are so gosh darn flattering!
Thanks for reading 🙂
What did YOU buy this weekend? Please share below!

Great finds!! I love my lululemon gear!!…I feel put together when I wear it even though it's gym clothes.

domestic goddess- that's exactly why it's such an investment. Sure, it's pricey, but the clothes last forever and they fit so great you can wear them almost everywhere.

I totally agree about outlet malls. I never have much luck and just don't have the patience to sift though everything. Speaking of which, do you guys have ROSS in Houston? I felt the same way about that store FOREVER. It's just such a clusterfuck and also seems sort of dumpy, but my husband and I just bought a house and I stopped in the other day. I was STUNNED by all of the amazing deals I found. King Size 500 thread count Ralph Lauren sheets for $24! Nautica bath mats for $4 each! A pair of adorable, black, Kenneth Cole Reaction flats for $8.99! A 3' x 5' mirror with a funky silver frame for $20! I seriously left there with what would have cost AT LEAST $300 elsewhere for just under $100.
And actually, I saw a tank top that immediately made me think of you (weeeeeirdoooo!). Just a cute, black racerback with some subtle ruffling around the neckline that carried onto the back and ended with a little black bow. It cost $3! That's crazy!

michele- we do have Ross but I usually shop at Marshalls Home Goods. I will have to check out Ross more often, I didn't realize they had as much home stuff, thanks for the tip 🙂

Love the garbage tie skirt!! I've always been in love with that style, but at 5'4" I'd look a little waist-less I'm afraid. Definitely post it in an outfit! I've never been to the outlets on 290, but I've been told they have a CCO where you can purchase legitimate discounted cosmetics (MAC, Chanel, etc). I've been dying to take a look!
I'm also really tempted to go on a lululemon shopping spree, but I'm still sporting the danskin yoga pants that are way too old, yet still look new. They've always seemed flattering, and I occassionally wear them into the grocery store to pick up things after a workout… but now I'm wanting to see what I'm missing out on 🙂 There's a freestanding store in Highland Village on Westheimer, right?

stepie-yup! that's where the LuluLemon is! I promise the pants there are amazing. I've had my black ones since 2006 and they are still amazing. The ones i'm wearing above are newer.
I didn't know they had a CCO there…dammit. i think I saw it and it seemed like one of those crap cosmetics stores! now i'll have to go back.
ps- what's a garbage skirt? never heard the term hehe!
Stephie says
I'm not sure what they're actually called, but I heard the "term" on Project Runway and it just stuck! Haha! I was referring to the black pleated skirt with the tie around the waist. Love it!
I've never been to a CCO, but in my mind I'm picturing this huge, glittering, purple and pink room where gorgeous people hand out cocktails and compliment your blowout… I'm sure I won't be disappointed 🙂

Love the new skirts!
When you do your OOTD, I would love to hear more about your shoes and see pics of them too. Those flats you're wearing here look really cute!
[email protected] says
Jennifer- the flats are $19.99 from Target they are pointy toe with a big bow and also come in hot pink 🙂 I don't have a ton of shoes, so I pretty much wear the same heels and same flats all of the time so I stopped saying which ones they are! I will be sure to post my shoes for those who haven't read previous posts. thanks 🙂
ps- those flats are like my fave flats ever!!!!!!!

I need to be a better shopper like you! I am totally mesmorized by a good sale, even if it is terrible and totally not functional for my wardrobe. As such, I am on a spending freeze until March, so i don't have any purchases to share with you.
Speaking of lululemon, (it's me rys, btw) and I really love the Vaughan Mills location in the GTA b/c it is as 'outlet' as you can get. They have a back section that is just sale stuff and they always have some good pieces. Plenty of cast offs, but in general, I haven't had to get any of my lulu at full price in a whle. I even found a pair of Still Pants for sale in December. yay!

I love the first skirt and absolutely LOVE the top! Please post a pic when you have the top on. It looks so cute! Great for spring and summer too because of the navy and green.
Next time I visit my mom, I'm totally going to buy some Lululemon. I've been wanting to but just never did, but definitely want to before I go to china. I think it will be good clothes to run around the busy city in, and really good for traveling too! I was sitting here worried about what I could wear to travel in that would look halfway decent, and I think lululemon would be perfect!

Love all of your purchases! Your OOTD was so cute that I went right to lululemon.com to grab those pants, but they don't have my size right now:( I guess I'll have to check back! Thanks for posting all this cuteness!
