I had a long/kind of not so great day today so I don’t have anything too exciting to post because I am exhausted. But I did love my outfit today, so I’ll share that.
I wore my new Forever 21 ruffle-sleeved top and it was just too cute for words (well, I thought so)
It did lift my mood a bit to see the cute little ruffles.

I also really love that skirt. You can’t really tell but it’s a textured leopard print (it was also super super on sale). I love to wear black clothes with texture to them because it gives the piece more dimension. I definitely hope to purchase more black skirts with a texture to them because I wear this one all the time.
My lovely husband ordered us pizza and made me green tea and we are just going to veg out tonight and catch up on some DVR’d shows.
Hope you all have a wonderful evening (or day if you are reading this Friday morning)
…and because he always makes me feel better, here are a few shots of Lulu’s haircut that I did last weekend:
Veronika.
Ruffles on clothing make the world a better place. True fact. π
sweettea- you're preaching to the wrong person hehe! ruffles are like the icing on a cupcake. It just wouldn't be the same cupcake without the icing!
I love the top and the skirt!! A few days ago we were at the F21 in the Pavillion downtown, and I almost got it in the peachy color.
I'm loving that necklace, too!! So cute!
Little details about my makeup or an accessory can make my day a little brighter sometimes. I often wear a little bow headband or bobby pins to the gym just to put a little postitive spin on it (weird, I know, but it works).
We're doing pizza tonight, too (from Russo's, YUM). I'm going to quickly cook some asparagus to munch on, just to make me feel a little better about it π
stephie- the ONLY headbands i wear to the gym have a little bow. we are two of a kind. how have we never run into eachother? LOL
Such a cute top, and looks completely professional with the pencil skirt and heels. The new watch looks great too!
I had the worst day at work today. This post cheered me up a bit. I adore ruffles! You are so sweet! Enjoy your night with your sweetie!
We've probably narrowly missed one another for years, Haha!
o- oh yes I forgot to say what the watch was π i will add it in. thank you so much π
A- i had the worst day, period. I just need a weekend of relaxing and sleeping.
stephie- we need to have Starbucks one day π
I completely agree with you about the black clothing with a texture. And yes, ruffles are like icing on the cake. That would make rosettes your sprinkles? π
jessica- you are too cute! rosettes might be more like the whipped cream with the cherry on top π hehe
Awww, beautiful outfit, it is so well put together and I think the necklace is the perfect style to go with it! Very cute. Love F21!
the ruffles are so cute on the blouse. great F21 find.
My Life in Style
Aw, I love the shirt! I am seeing ruffles/rosettes/flowers on EVERYTHING lately. I am loving it and am praying it stays that way.
I hope your day tomorrow/weekend is better than your day today! A super cute Friday outfit always helps π
– Jennifer
PS: I am trying L'Oreal Lash Serum…tonight is the first night but I have been hearing great reviews. I'll let you know if I notice any changes in lash length/thickness!
Hey Veronika,
Hope you are feeling better! The top is too cute and I love the outfit…actually have the same necklace too!
Sandra:)
I love the outfit! Very cute. Sometimes it makes you feel good (even if it's just a little bit) when you look good. Actually the days I feel my worst I try to dress the best. At least all day you have that going for you. Hope you have a better day today.
The outfit is awesome! I love Lulu's haircut, he's super cute π
HI,
Do you drink green tea with caffine all day? I love green tea but I find that the caffine keeps me up so I switched to decaf at night. Just wondered. Great outfit by the way, I too am in love with the new ruffle craze π
I love your outfit! You look great V! And your hair looks AMAZING!! xoxo
Anon,
Green tea (real green tea not blends) does not have caffeine.
I drink the starbucks Zen green tea…i think it has caffeine
I will always be in love with ruffles. This outfit is totally something I would wear to work. Sometimes I pair a simple v-neck or scooped Express tee with a black skirt, heels, and a necklace. It's simple yet appropriate for the office.
FJ- I totally agree. I don't like feeling stuffy and a cotton tee with some fun details totally looks approriate yet isn't uncomfortable to wear π
Cute top.
I totally picture you at the gym in your lululemons and little bow headband doing level 1 on the elliptical going a lightning 45 rpm while sipping a smoothie and watching E!, then doing a strenuous strength training workout with 3 lb handweights claiming to really "feel the burn". It's really adorable.
LOL anon! You make me laugh. I do power pilates 3 times a week, work out with a personal trainer and consider myself to be quite fit. I've never done a level one on an elliptical, ever….and I never drink smoothies either. Looking cute at the gym doesn't mean you aren't working hard. It just means you want to look good while working hard to make your body look good!
Very cute! Your hair looks awesome!
I am SO with you on textured black skirts!!! And your hair does look awesome! =) Hope you're having a better day today!
Girlllll – this is my fav OOTD so far – you looked so gorgeous!!!! love the whole package
They say that wearing nice fitted gym clothes to work out you are more motivated to go to the gym and to stick to your training because good fitting workout wear makes you feel good about how you look and shows off your body so that you can see the results and the movement in your body as your work… I don't know who 'they' is but it sounds about right to me…
xo

Jamie- I totally agree! It's a mental thing for me. When I catch a glimpse of myself at the gym and I am feeling confident in how I look, then I want to work even harder. I would hate to walk by a mirror at the gym and see myself looking frumpy and gross. That would just make me feel discouraged.
I have never felt frumpy and/or gross at the gym because when I catch a glimpse of myself working out, sweating, and pushing my limits, I couldn't care less if I look cute. I go to the gym to exercise so that my body is in the best possible shape, and I feel good inside and out–not to worry about if my hair looks good in a headband or if my cheeks are perfectly flushed. And yes, my ass looks fantastic in gym shorts and you could cut glass with my abs.
Why do you need to tell us how fit you are? No one is saying you aren't fit. Congrats on your abs that can "cut glass." I'm simply saying that it doesn't matter what kind of HEADBAND you wear to the gym. Whether it's simple, has a bow or it's hot pink, the color and style of your headband doesn't determine how hard you work at the gym.
Please don't diminish how hard I work at the gym by assuming that because I make an effort to look cute at the gym, I must be there to "slack off." How would I get the results I'm getting if I wasn't working hard? I just like to have the best of both worlds- looking cute and working hard!
Love the frilly sleeves! Today I received a catalog from Boston Proper and loved what I saw. Ruffles, rosettes and frills everywhere! Have you ever shopped there before? I have bought several things and find the quality to be quite good. I would compare it to a retailer like Cache. You should check it out…there are several things that I am thinking about breaking my no shopping vow for! π
jennifer- I've never heard of Boston Proper. I'll look it up, thanks π
