Today I wore the most non-ideal outfit ever. Not realizing I’d be running around all day from store to store and picking up heavy bags and boxes, I wore heels and a silk top in 100 degree weather. I deserve a prize!
I did really love the outfit, but by mid-day I had to hit Target to buy some Dr. Schols inserts for my pumps! (which, by the way are very comfortable in normal circumstances.)
Walking around for hours in heels in 100 degree weather= sweating and chafing and rubbing and just overall discomfort.
Speaking of feet and sweating, does anyone else who lives in a warm climate do a different (foot) routine in the summer? I’m not going to lie, my feet sweat when it’s hot out. When you wear shoes made of synthetic materials (and even non synthetic in this weather) your feet are bound to produce sweat. To keep my shoes in good condition and to avoid stinky feet as much as possible, in the summer I use a deodorizing foot spray (you can get it at any drug store) and I also have foot powder as needed. I also bought a product at DSW called the “Shoe De-Fogger” and it’s a spray that’s meant to deodorize shoes. I invest a lot in my shoes and I want to keep them looking (and smelling good.) I know for most people feet are a gross topic, but I just had to put that out there.
OK, here’s what I wore:
Blush Pink Satin Top- Ann Taylor
Skirt- LOFT
Skirt- LOFT
Cardigan- Express (yes, I wear the heck out of this cardigan. I LOVE it!)
Shoes- Jessica Simpson Nude Pumps
Bag- Kate Spade
Bag- Kate Spade
Thanks to everyone who left me comments yesterday sharing their laptop stories. It helped me heal to know others could relate!
BTW- I think there’s something for everyone in these photos- lack of pigeon toes in some, looking at the camera, standing up straighter…oh how I’m growing ๐
xoxo,
Veronika.
wow you look stunning hun! ๐ i love how simple and chic ๐ hope you can follow me back! I super love your blog! ๐
lol about the feet! I think mine sweat a little but not really all that much… maybe peep toes are the best bet (to let out some of the heat)? You look cute nonetheless!!!
justine- it's so weird because i don't sweat a lot (not even when working out) but my feet are another story!
i need to try that de-odorizing spray for the shoes, because i feel that my feet sweat a lot. i just use dr scholls deodorizing foot spray. and i'll generally wear sandals as much as possible
I love the color combination of your outfit today! So pretty and feminine. Your face looks nice and tan as well!
My feet sweat in the summer too (yes its gross) so I try to wear open-toed shoes as often as possible. I haven't tried the deodorizing spray, but maybe need to give that a shot.
try regular baby powder…absorbs wetness really well
norma- i've tried that but i prefer the foot spray because it's clear and easy ๐
jessica- i got a spray tan so my face is dark right now- it's good though because even without makeup my skin looks pretty even!
The "BTW" really made me laugh and I really needed it, so thank you! ๐
ashley- glad it made you smile, it made me laugh too ๐
I love this outfit, but my favorite part of the post was the BTW ๐ it's good to be able to poke fun at yourself!
Love today's pictures – especially the one of you looking off to the side. The cream outfit is so ladylike – too bad it turned out to be such a hectic day!
I wear gladiator sandals a lot in the summer – so don't have to worry about odour – but back when I was working, I used to wear black ballet flats a lot – and they ended up reeking! I had to leave them in the sun with baking soda to get them back to normal – and I can only
whoops – part of my comment got cut off…"I can only wear them sparingly nowadays."
Despite the heat, you still look great in that outfit =) And I feel your pain, I was sweatin' all day too!
Girl, it was over 100 today. It got up to 107 in Clear Lake!
Love the outfit—Band-Aids Blister Block is my lifesaver in the hot weather (and even not so hot). It creates a barrier when I start to feel a blister or rubbing starting. Try it for sure!
I LOVE picture #3 & #4…you look gorgeous Veronika!!!
Very cute outfit!
you forgot to add: you're smiling now ๐
I love the whole outfit, but I especially love the blouse.
I lobe your outfit! I am so bummed that I didn't get that skirt in time before it sold out. I am the exact same way in the summer…I don't seem to sweat at all, and then summer rolls around and its a different story!
Fabulous outfit- and yes, you DO deserve some sort of superstar prize for rocking silk + close toed pumps on a 100 degree day, holy cow. ๐
i've been following your blog for a while now and i really love how you are smiling now as opposed to 'frowning' on your pictures before. yes, i know that before you were checking/looking at your camera and not coz you're angry. anyways, you are so very beautiful. -ann
thank you everyone for your lovely comments
chloe- usually silk tops and closed-toe in 100 degree heat is perfect because I'm in freezing office AC all day…but I hadn't anticipated running around all day!
Love this outfit Veronika! I like your darker outfits as much as these lighter colored ones. You're like a lifesized Barbie, but brunette (which I prefer anyway)! I love your OOTDs ๐
BTW, my feet sweat too so I can 100% relate with you about shoes & investing to keep them smelling & staying nice.
