Sorry for my vent there…I’m just really passionate about pet safety.
On Friday, Candice and I attended the “Night in Spain” fashion show at Lakewood Church featuring clothes from Dillard’s. I am working with the producer of the show on another event and I just have to say the styling was amazing!!! I was so impressed with how him and his team weaved the Spanish theme through the show-even the music was incredible. I was also really impressed with the brands and styles offered by Dillard’s. I had no idea they have so many cute dresses for both work and play. I am definitely going to have to check the store out more often.
We didn’t get a chance to say hello but it was such a great event and fabulous show- plus all proceeds benefited Victoria Osteen’s Child Literacy charity. I wore my JPG for Target dress with my WHBM cardigan over it:
Today H and I realized that we still had design dollars from West Elm that we had to use by October 15th. We visited the store this afternoon and I finally got a lamp for our desk in our living room. I am so glad I found this lamp, it’s really gorgeous! It’s called the Tiled Capiz Table Lamp. We paid under $100 for it with our design dollars!
Yay! A finishing touch to the desk 🙂
I still have A LOT of cleaning to do today so I’m going to relax a bit before I get to it
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!
xoxo,
Veronika.

Wow; I cannot believe someone left their dog in the car for over an hour. I also feel that people that do not treat their pets with the respect and love that they deserve should not be owners. The fashion show looks like it was a lot of fun and the dresses look fabulous! I love your new lamp; it goes perfectly with the rest of the decor in your home!

thanks Amanda. I can't believe people think it's OK either…it's just so sad…what if it was really hot out? that dog could have died! it's awful 🙁

Ugh I completely agree with you on the dog thing. Was it definitely someone from the Pilates studio or is the parking lot shared? Poor dog – it's really not fair for them to be put in that situation!
BTW LOVE the Lamp I had the gold one when I used to live at a Loft in Downtown, LA – it really its beautiful.
Hope you have a great ending to your weekend!

natalia- come to think of it, the building does have other businesses but it was the weekend so I don't think it would have been from any of those…I'm not 100% certain though. It's just sad overall.
Glad to hear you had the same lamp! it's gorgeous and unique 🙂

Ugh, that makes me sick about that poor little dog. I'm a HUGE animal lover and stories like that one make me cringe, not to mention angry. I hope the dog was ok and that the owner is more thoughtful next time!

I feel the same way about people leaving their dogs in the car – it's just not right! I love your new lamp!

Oh my gosh I hate it when people leave their dogs in the car. It's unsafe & not to mention people can easily steal the dog. It's sooo cruel. There was this guy in my old apartment complex who kept his dog in his car alot. Like the dog pretty much lived in there, I called animal services & they said there was nothing they could do unless the dog was dying! They just left a note & the guy doesn't leave his dog there anymore, but it's just ridiculous why make the innocent dog suffer?? 🙁 breaks my heart.

That's just messed up, hate when people leave their dogs in the car.
I love the lamp! I've been searching for the "perfect" lamp forever it seems but can't find anything I like without it being a few hundred $$. But that one is a great find, I need to check out their website.

Obviously a dog that gets anxious like that doesn't want to stay in the car, but my dog likes to take trips with me and there are times I'll run into the store and she'll stay in the car (obviously when it isn't hot). She is perfectly fine in there, and I think it is okay to leave her in there. She doesn't bark, she just sleeps and waits for me. Windows are cracked. She is FINE! I bring her because she LOVES riding in the car.
You look cute with your hair up. I understand you like it down for work and it is more professional, but I think you need a haircut because lately your hair has been looking like it is taking over!

anon- maybe your dog likes being in the car, but this dog clearly didn't. I just don't agree with it. Even when it's not really hot or really cold I just don't like it as a practice and would not leave my own dog in the car on principle. Having said that, if your dog really is as you describe (just calmly waits for you to come back) and if you leave her only in weather that wouldn't pose a harm to her and if it's only for a short period of time (less than 10 mins) then if that works for you then I guess that's what works. I just personally wouldn't do it.
I got my haircut fairly recently and don't plan on cutting it soon, but yeah, my hair always needs a trim because it's long.

I get really upset when I see that people have left their pets in their cars too. I admit that I've been guilty of leaving my dog in the car if I had to stop to pick something up and he was with me, but the only time that has ever happened has been for me to run into the local drugstore for 2 minutes to pick up a prescription or a gallon of milk and even then I felt guilty about it. I hate to see anxious dogs barking their brain out in parking lots at grocery stores, and I've even seen them in mall parking lots. It's sad.

Diana- I have seen dogs in mall parking lots too. I report it to mall security and they have to deal with it. One time the couple who left their dog was walking back to their car just as security was coming towards the car (after I had gone in and reported it).

I get so emotional and worked up when I think animals are being mistreated in any way–and that includes leaving them in the car! My puppers loves to go for rides to, so I just plan little cruising trips for us and I listen to music and she sticks her nose out the window. She gets her ride, I get some relaxation and everyone is good!
Your hair looks great pulled back!

V, I just love you. I'm glad you left a note on that person's car!
And, you look super cute with a pony tail and I love, love, LOVE that lamp! It is perfection!

I think your hair has been looking great both up AND down, Veronika- no need for a haircut! Unless you want to chop it off and give some to me, of course. 😉
As far as leaving the dog in the car, I do bring P-Diddly along with me if I run to the grocery store late at night because she gets weird when I'm gone & Husband is usually trying to sleep- but she's only in the car for 10 to 15 minutes tops. Working at a gym, we actually get a lot of customer complaints about other customers leaving dogs in their cars while they're working out- since most workouts typically last 30 to 90 minutes, that's simply too long for a dog to be unattended like that, especially on a hot day. It always makes me feel bad for the pups, too. 🙁
Woo hoo to the lamp! I've been scoping out West Elm like crazy for our remodel, they have so much fun stuff!

I completely agree with your anger towards people who leave their dogs in the car for long periods of time, especially on hot days. I have called animal control before on people who do this. I just cannot stand it. Leaving them for very short periods of time when I is cool out is understandable, but for anything over 15 minutes when it is warm out is not acceptable. I hope the little dog was okay.
I love the new lamp, it is so pretty and adds just the right touch to your desk.

I like your hair up, too! you have such a pretty face, it's nice to see it more!
I do leave my little chihuahua in the car when I run into a store for 10-15 minutes tops. He barks at everyone as they walk past. It's not because he is miserable, it's because he likes to bark at people… he does it when he stares out the window at home and sees people walk past, LOL. But, I wouldn't do it when it's hot out, either, and I'd always leave the window or sunroof adequately open. Even if I sit in the car with him (while DH runs into a store, for example) he will still bark at everyone that walks by.

Here in Arizona, we can call 911 if there is a dog left in a car. It's 20-30 degrees hotter in the car, than the outside temperature. It's against the law in most states to leave an animal in the car when the temp is too high.
Anonymous says
V-I totally feel your pain on the dog situation. I actually called 911 one time at a restaurant because someone left thier dog in the car while they were eating. Animal control came out and everything. This was in the month of MAY….in TEXAS. No windows were cracked or anything but the idiots left the car running. People are so stupid.

anon- I honestly think in a situation like the one you posted there should be required jail time. They won't learn their lesson unless there are real consequences for their actions.

that lamp is perfect!!
and how would someone like to be locked in a hot car for an hour with a cracked window? grrrr people make me so mad with their lack of common sense for animals!!
