I know I say this every week, but I can’t believe how fast time is going. There are just a little less than two and a half months left before our little girl is due.
So much is coming up in the next month— baby showers, completing the nursery, classes at the hospital, finishing some of the books I’m reading…and so much more. Sometimes I feel like I have all the time in the world and other times I feel a slight sense of panic that I haven’t done enough yet (I’m sure most of you mommas can relate!)
I’ve always heard that your third trimester drags on and I’ll probably feel that way when I’m 36 or 37 weeks along, but right now my job is keeping me really busy and it makes the weeks fly by.
How far along? 29 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I’m actually 30 weeks today). Just 10 more weeks to go!
Total weight gain/loss: 12 lbs and probably more by now—I will find out at my 32 week appointment.
Maternity clothes? Still wearing maternity pants and regular tops and blouses. I also started to wear some of my dresses that still fit to work this week since it’s gotten a lot warmer. My stomach seems to be growing so rapidly now that it may not be long before the maternity clothes I have hanging in my closet will start to make an appearance in my outfit photos!
Stretch marks? Not yet, I’m continuing to use Belli’s Elasticity Belly Oil, Mamma Mio Tummy Rub and Mustela double-action stretch mark cream in rotation.
Symptoms: I’m continuing to experience the same symptoms as last week—the rib pain on my left side (which has now spread to the top of my bump on that side) and the hip/thigh pain when I sleep. It’s never constant though, which I’m ever-so-thankful for.
I’m still going to bed fairly early to make sure I’m getting enough sleep since I’m getting up a couple of times a night to pee and just waking through the night in general. Though I’ve been getting a good amount of sleep, I do find myself crankier than usual sometimes, it just depends on the day.
Sleep: I’m sleeping okay. I’m waking up a lot more now throughout the night, but overall I try to make sleep a priority so I’m getting at least 8 hours (of somewhat interrupted sleep) most nights.
Best moment this week: Getting all of the “big stuff” done in the nursery. I love going into her room and just sitting there for awhile, thinking about when she’s here.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Still just sleeping on my stomach and not having to hoist my body over a Snoogle every morning…
Movement: Still feeling lots of movement—I noticed this week that the movements are changing a bit—instead of always feeling little kicks, I started to feel larger movements that feel more like the baby is pushing its body up against me. Some days she is super active and other days I feel her more on and off. She is really active at night, especially if I am lounging on the couch or sitting up in bed. I also feel her hiccup sometimes now! I love it.
Food cravings: I haven’t had any 3 a.m. “gotta have this right now” type cravings yet. Having said that, I’ve been loving Reeces peanut butter cups and cheeseburgers. I’ve also been thinking a lot about lattes lately but I’m probably just going to wait until after the baby is here to resume caffeine since I’ve gone so long without it at this point. I’ve also been kind of obsessed with Subway. I usually get a 6 inch chicken sub on honey oat bread and load it with veggies and a little honey mustard sauce. I do sometimes get turkey, but I have them heat it in the microwave for me, just in case. I would say Subway has been a major lunchtime craving for the past two weeks.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Plain chicken—I got over this for awhile but it seems to be back—I can’t eat plain grilled chicken. I can eat chicken salad, stuffed chicken, breaded chicken, etc. But plain chicken for some reason is just gross to me right now. Weird.
Have you started to show yet: I get asked pretty often “how far along are you?” “when are you due?” and “are you pregnant?” so I think it’s safe to say I’m definitely showing and growing by the day!
Baby is a: Girl!
Belly Button in or out? It’s just plain weird looking now, ha. It kind of looks like a deformed cinnamon bun. Yep, that is the best way I can describe it.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy–with a side of moody sometimes.
Looking forward to: Our 4D ultrasound this weekend (they couldn’t get good shots at our last one so they asked us to come back). I’m also really excited for my friend to come visit from Canada in April!

Oh yesss sleeping well and comfortably is what I long for the most. I was avoiding coffee for a long time and even hated it for a while! But then things got a bit crazy, less sleep, etc., so now I drink it every now and then. I wish I didn't but it seems to be okay to have a cup when I really need it, that's according to my doctor as well as articles I've read. 🙂 So girl, great job on not drinking coffee! 😀

I'm 36.5 weeks and my pregnancy has flown by, I thought it would have slowed down by this stage but it's still going really fast and I can't believe I have just over 3 weeks to go. I'm having a girl also and in the last 2 weeks I have gone on a panic buying spree as people keep saying they think she will come early. I have been having a lot of pelvic pain and tomorrow am going into the hospital to have my pelvis realigned – eeek, little bit scared but the maternity physio told me if I don't have it done before the birth it could cause problems later x

Don't take your full nights of sleep for granted. You'll miss them soon enough! Aubrey had the hiccups in the womb too and she still does now. I also remember that rib pain, she's pressing against an organ. I'm so excited to hear about the sonogram and I can't wait for shower details!

Pads – take home any pads you didn't use from the hospital but be sure to buy a pack or two before you have baby.
Toilet Paper- This goes off of the pads. You will go through lots of toliet paper.
Meds- If you are on pain meds while in the hospital try to get a dose at the hospital close to your discharge time. Then get prescriptions filled ASAP.
Hemmroid Cream/Wipes- Have these on hand just in case you get them. It took me a few days to realize that I had them and then finding time to go get meds took waiting on DH or mom to drive me.
Big Granny Panties- Get cheap big granny panties. What I mean is buy some that are large enough to hold those giant pads you'll have to wear for the next few weeks. And large enough to not affect any stitches you may have (C-sec)
Antiseptic Spray- The hospital will give you a spray or foam to help with the pain etc. Take it home and if possible get a second one.
Cleanse bottle- The hospital will give you a cleanse bottle to help with cleaning the area and promoting circulation. Take it home
Tucks Pads w/witch hazel- Get tucks pads that have witch hazel. Will help with swelling and pain.
Gas Tablets & Stool Softner- The hospital will give you some too while you are there so take it while you are there.
Gel Cool/Heat Packs- Get gel cool/heat pads that you can comfortablly put in between your legs to help with swelling. You can use the heated ones for your back and breasts (when you get engorged). I would recommend these specific ones – I have them and really like them so far: https://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/breastfeeding-support/booby-tubes.html (purchased via amazon)
Nursing bras/sleepwear- I've found I like to sleep in a button down shirt but I know friends that like to sleep in a sportsbra type nursing bra. Kind of hard to know how big your breast will get, but try to have at least one or two on hand to get you by a few days until you can go to the store.
Breast shield/pump- When my milk came in my breasts were too hard for the baby to latch on. I had to express some milk to soften them up.
Breast Pads- You will leak while feeding and in between feedings.
Things you want if you have a c-section:
-smaller pads to keep your incision dry, to ease the rubbing on it, and to keep it away from any blood
-bottled water or other drinks and packaged snacks. It's hard to get around the first few days and you do not want to always be depending on someone else to get you fluids/snacks (especially if breast feeding as you will be super thristy/hungry). Keep some by your bed for ease
-if nursing I would suggest you have a nursing pillow. I personally LOVE the Brest friend pillow. It keeps the baby nicely in place and he/she will not fall towards you as with the Boppy or other softer pillows. It's also nice in that it has back support.
-tissues. Birth is a very emotional process. You will probably cry at some point afterwards. In the following days you might have a little emotional break down (my dr said it happens to everyone lol) and tissues will be handy for this.
-When I was working with a midwife, she suggested condoms. Fill them with water and freeze, and they meake really good shaped icepacks for after (obviously not inside!)
One thing I would suggest to everyone: TAKE A SHOWER BEFORE LEAVING THE HOSPITAL!
-pjs that button down the front to wear in the hospital
-lightweight robe for the hospital
-slippers/flips for the hospital
-nibble shells (provide space between nipples and shirt and allow them to air dry) – the hopsital gave me them to me, but I don't know if all do
-nipple butter/cream – I have the one below, also lanolin and another brand
https://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/breastfeeding-support/natural-nipple-butter.html
-bottom spray (not necessary if you have Tucks, but it smells good and is soothing)
https://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/postpartum-recovery/new-mama-bottom-spray.html
-newborn sleepers with zippers, not snaps
-meals in the fridge/freezer or someone to cook for you
Hope this helps!
