When we arrived, we checked out the menu and ordered some appetizers and entrees. Once you place your order at the front of the restaurant, it’s full-service from then onward.
We ordered the kale guacamole appetizer and we also shared an arugula salad which was awesome— it had green apple shavings, red grapes, walnuts and a really lemony vinaigrette. It was one of my favorite parts of the meal!
I ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato fries and Kevin had shrimp and grits. Both were delicious and the menu pricing was fantastic— our appetizer was just $3! They have glass all around their kitchen so you can watch food being made and they also had live music there that night. There is also an area in the back that seemed to be geared more towards families and groups with longer tables and more seating. There’s also a bar with wine and draft beers.
We will definitely be coming back…I’m already craving that salad again! The food was really fresh and flavorful. We were truly impressed. There’s a good read on Table 57 on CultureMap, if you’re interested.
After we ate, we actually realized we needed to pick up a few things for breakfast the next morning so we bought some ingredients to make pancakes and I couldn’t resist stopping by to see all of the pretty blooms. We also bought fudge…because, why not? I got the maple (there are my Canadian roots, right there) and Kevin got the rocky road.
Saturday morning, we made the aforementioned pancakes, with delicious blueberries. Harper loved them and I think it’s the first time she’d ever had maple syrup. YUM!
Later that day, I attended the Willow Crowns and Cuteheads trunk show at River Oak’s Macaron by Patisse. I had never been there before and it turns out the owner is a fellow Canadian and makes the best macarons I’ve had in this city. My favorite was the Earl Grey, but I also loved lemon, raspberry and birthday cake. flavors They offer 20 flavors, so there’s something for everyone! I took a couple home for Kevin and Harper— she was a big fan of the macaron with Nutella in it.
The trunk show was a big success— thank you to everyone that stopped by- it was nice to see some friends I hadn’t seen in awhile and meet some fellow bloggers too 🙂 By the way, Megan’s new collection for Willow Crowns launches tomorrow.
Esther, the woman behind Cuteheads (she also has an adorable little girl close to Harper’s age) sent me home with this adorable flutter-sleeve top and I couldn’t be more smitten with it. It’s well made and so very sweet. You can follow Esther on IG, here.
Saturday was also a happy mail day— these awesome gold cuffs arrived from R & E Avenue. Jasmine made them for me with the coordinates of our wedding location and where Harper was born. I love that these are both stylish and meaningful. They’re also so simple- easy to add to any outfit. The watch is by Daniel Wellington, btw.
Today, we spent our morning with our friends and their daughter Margot. Both girls were shy at first since they hadn’t seen each other in a few weeks, but in 20 minutes, they were running around the house chasing each other. Margot is one of Harper’s favorite names to say, and thank goodness they don’t share a wall with their neighbors because she liked to shriek it as she chased after her. Ha.
The rest of the day we just enjoyed time as a family and we also snuck in a nap while Harper napped instead of cleaning the house like we planned. You win some, you lose some. Besides, rainy-day naps are the absolute best, right?
Veronika, I love those bracelets! Also, that arugula salad DOES look delicious! Those flowers are gorgeous, too. I also love to look at the flowers when I shop! Have a great Monday!

They would make a great gift! And they're super affordable too! Have a great week!

That arugula salad looks and sounds super yummy! Those macaroons look delicious and those bracelets are just darling!!
It really was so delish! I need to eat it again soon 🙂 glad you like the bracelets!
what time did harper go to bed? this is a great idea to do date nights after the little one falls asleep. when my husband and i go out my son will not sleep until we come home.. this could be as late as 1am.
Harper is usually asleep by 7:30 and we start our bedtime routine at 7 or 7:10. She wouldn't even notice if we were gone or not, she is fast asleep by the time we're gone!
Seeing those flowers makes me want to go buy some, but it can get to be so expensive! I used to buy fresh blooms every two weeks, but I've since cut back to once a month or so. They are beautiful though, and add so much life to a space.
