To say that my long weekend didn’t go as planned is an understatement…
I got Thursday and Friday off of work for the extra evenings and weekends I worked recently and I was so excited to spend a long weekend with Harper since her daycare was closed all week for Spring break.
We started our Thursday with a dental appointment (okay, not so fun, but it had to be done and it’s easier to do on a non work day). All was well at Harper’s check-up and we headed out to meet my friend and her daughter for a little play date and story time at the library. I was feeling a little off in the morning, but I thought I was just tired.

On the way home from the library, I called Kevin and asked if he could help get Harper out of the car because I wasn’t feeling well. About 20 minutes later, all hell broke loose.
I will spare you the vivid details, but let’s just say I had some kind of stomach virus that I am now describing as “the worst ever in life” and “it feels like death.” I actually got a similar virus several months ago, but it did not compare to the brutality of whatever the hell this was and only lasted a day, including the recovery time.
So I spent the entire rest of the day and night becoming reluctant besties with our toilet and trying my best to drink some fluids and eat some crackers (none of which ever stayed down).
Friday morning, I woke up (I was able to get a little sleep after I thought the worst of it was over) and as the day went on, I realized that things were not good…at all. I was in so much pain, had the chills, could barely eat or drink and had a massive migraine.
I ended up making a call and my doctor sent me to the hospital. Sweet Candice drove me so Kevin could stay with Harper and stayed until I got too tired (she’s so wonderful). To make a long story short, they did some testing, I was way dehydrated, ketones in the urine and all, and so they started me on IV fluids and Zofran and all that jazz. I was discharged late at night and spent the next two days at home recovering.

I’m still fairly weak and am working on eating, hydrating round-the-clock and trying to feel normal again, which is a slow process right now. I’m still having some minor symptoms so I’m taking an extra day away from the office to work from home.
I feel fortunate that both Kevin and Harper are healthy right now, so there’s that. And I have to thank my wonderful husband for letting me rest and being an awesome caretaker to me (and of course to Harper, but he always is!) during these four crazy days.

I don’t have much else to share from this dreadful weekend, but some cute things did come in the mail while I was recovering, so I’ll finish this post off with those, because I never want to think about this weekend again and new hair products always make me happy!
The lovely folks over at Living Proof sent me some samples of some products based on my hair type that they thought I would like. I have used their products for years including my beloved prime style extender lotion (I use it before every blowout). I’m excited to try the perfect hair day shampoo, night cap overnight perfector (it has a 5 star rating on Sephora.com) and the restore instant repair lotion. I will report back and let you all know how these products are working for me!

Sounds like food poisoning instead of a virus! I had it once and it was much worse than a regular stomach bug, left me very weak, dizzy, not eating and about 3-4 days to feel normal again. Before having it, I always said I didn't understand how people ended up in the ER for food poisoning….now I get it!!
I thought that might be it too but I couldn't think of anything I ate that may have caused it, but I guess it really could be anything. The weird thing is I felt a bit funny in the morning already and usually food poisoning comes on pretty quickly after you've eaten— and I ate at maybe 7 PM the night before and then not again until about 9:30 am the next morning…so it's hard to say but definitely a possibility. I never expected that i would need to go to the hospital either, it's crazy how sick you can get.

So glad you are feeling better, wow it is amazing how fast you can get dehydrated when you get a bad stomach bug like that. Thank goodness Harper did not get it! I too received some samples from Living Proof recently and I am just in love with them… I had never tried their products prior to receiving them. My products are for curly hair, though. Yes thank goodness! I love LP products and have used them for years—but some of these are new too me so I can't wait to check them out. I have always felt they products do what they say they will, which is awesome.
Did anyone else in your family catch it? I've had food poisoning a few times before (where I felt like death) but this fall, I caught Norovirus … and it was literally the worst day of my life. It's the same virus that catches quickly on cruise ships and there's almost nothing you can do to stop it spreading! Within two days, my husband, and both of my parents (who had come down to watch our daughter when we were dying) were all bed (or bathroom) ridden. The worst. Ugh. Hope you feel better!
Nope! I would think by now they would have caught it if they were going to, but who knows? I am so happy they are not showing any signs/symptoms because i would never want anyone to feel this way. I am sorry y'all were so sick all at the same time 🙁 sounds terrible!

Did you take a antibiotic prior to your dental visit? I need to take one due to implants from having a mastectomy, and after my last 2 visits, I was violently sick about 4 hours after taking the pill. I finally figured out it was a reaction to that particular antibiotic. It was the most sick I had ever been.

Hope you are feeling better. Those early months with a baby-toddler are not easy with all viruses coming from the kindergarten. This is why I'm thankful I had my kids only 20 months apart. Many stomach bugs but we survived. Hope your week will be nice

Ill get this out of the way first…Congrats on getting a rise out of me, I am sure that was the purpose all along as I don't think you really are a person who spends all their time body shaming toddlers online all day.
If you are a person who enjoys body shaming little kids on blogs, television, gossip magazines, etc…then I feel horrible for your family (and god forbid you have any children of your own) that they have to spend any time which such a coward and loser. If you feel so strongly about this don't be such a loser and use your proper name. Make fun of me or Veronika all day, really could care less what "anonymous" thinks about me, but that you/whoever constantly make comments about my daughters weight is embarrassing for you.

Happy you're doing better! I've had stomach issues my whole life and it's awful. You really can't function and the dehydration factor can be dangerous. I hope your week is more peaceful.
