Recent Skin + Body Favorites

I’m long overdue for a “products I love” post. I like to use products for at least several weeks before reporting back on them, so I’m excited to share some new and tried and true favorites in today’s post. 
In this post, I’m sharing some recent skin and body favorites (and I have an upcoming hair favorite post too!) I’m somewhat limited right now in my skincare routine since I can’t use any retinols, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or similar ingredients, but I find keeping it simple actually works really well for my skin. 
Over the years I have found so many incredible beauty products via the blogging/YouTube world and I’m always on the hunt for the next holy grail skin, makeup hair or nail product so I hope y’all enjoy these picks as much as I have!

My first product rave is a natural and aluminum-free deodorant I discovered recently called Primal Pit Paste. Don’t let the name fool you— this is the real deal. I always used regular antiperspirant and recently, especially with being pregnant, I was interested in trying to find a more natural way to control sweat and odor. I had tried the La Vanila deodorant before but it had gone off the market for awhile and I didn’t look for alternatives (though I see it’s available again, yay!). Primal Pit Paste deodorant keeps me fresh all day. I wouldn’t say it keeps you as dry as a regular antiperspirant would, but my main goal was to switch to a more natural product that would keep me smelling fresh all day. Now that I know La Vanila is available again, I an confidently recommend both products!
I am never consistent with applying body lotion— but this L’Occitaine almond milk concentrate’s sweet almond smell has me hooked. It’s so lightweight and absorbs right into the skin. I’ve even been using it on my belly at night time since I totally skipped applying stretch mark prevention cream regularly this pregnancy. It’s definitely a splurge, but I only use a little bit each application and it goes a long way.

I mentioned previously that my skin has been a little all over the place this pregnancy, so I re-ordered my tried and true Belli Skincare spot treatment that’s created specifically for use while you’re expecting. Now that I’m out of first tri, the breakouts are fewer and far between, but I love having this on hand when one is about to pop up. If you’re struggling with breakouts and either have sensitivities to the most common acne ingredients or you’re expecting, you won’t regret giving this a try!
Smith’s Minted Rose salve is something I’ve had for awhile now but I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it. I love to apply this before bed at night to help smooth my lips and give them some hydration. I love the rose/mint scent and that it can also be used on cuticles or anywhere else you have dryness. It’s a total staple and the little tin is cute, to boot.

Now that it’s summer, I’m all about protecting my skin when outdoors. I have long loved La Roche Posay’s skincare line and their Anthelios sunscreen is the best. I use it on my face whenever I’m going to be outside for a longer period of time. It wears perfectly under makeup, helps skin stay matte and most of all, the high SPF protects skin from burning. They also have a formula made just for the face, but I find the regular one to be fantastic as well (I have used and love both!)

Kiehl’s self tanner made my favorites list again because it’s just that amazing. I’ve tried so many of them over the years and this is the one that consistently delivers natural-looking color, doesn’t stink, has a perfect lotiony texture (super light and not at all thick) and the price point is just right (one bottle lasts a long time!) I use it on my face as well and it gives such an amazing glow and evens out your skin so nicely you can actually wear less makeup (or none at all!)

l’occitane lavande foaming bath + shower oil

I received a gift package from L’Occitane at the RewardStyle conference in April and I’ve been hooked on their bath products ever since. Their bubble bath and shower oil have become my ultimate shower-time favorites. The shower oil gets you clean with zero residue and leaves you with moisture-infused skin (and has that beautiful sweet almond scent). The foaming bath is meant to be used (duh) in the bath, but since I’m a shower kind of gal, I just put a little bit onto my bath pouff at night time and let the amazing scent fill my shower. I love using this right before bed since lavender is also a natural sleep aid.

Lastly—and I’ve mentioned these two before—but I have to once again sing the praises of Vichy’s Dermablend corrector and MAC’s studio finish concealer. I don’t wear liquid foundation at all (I just apply MAC’s studiofix powder with a large fluffy brush to my skin) so I need concealers as my “base” to correct an redness, blemishes, etc. Even a tiny bit of these products goes a long way. If my skin is looking pretty clear, I only use the MAC concealer- I apply it to small areas (like the sides of my nose and mouth where there’s sometimes redness) and on any blemishes using a small foundation brush. This helps to really blend it out and make it melt seamlessly into the skin. 
If I have a larger/more intense blemish to cover, I will first use a small clean eyeshadow brush to apply the Vichy Dermablend foundation to the affected area. Then, I will use my foundation brush (the same one I use to apply concealer) to dab over that spot. I don’t know how, but this foundation hides even the hardest-to-cover spots and melts right into your skin. All you need is a dusting of powder to finish your base— no all-over foundation needed! I think Lisa Eldridge said it best— when it comes to coverage, you want to cover only the parts that need it, and nothing more. I like letting a little bit of real skin show through— and this technique has allowed me to do just that.     My best friend told me about it and I was curious. So, I stopped by Sephora and loaded up on a week's worth of samples (I have no shame). Living in Houston, the humidity brings out shiny face syndrome to the extreme! But, this cleanser is MIRACULOUS. I truly to see my pores diminishing, my face is infinitely clearer and the shine? GONE. It's awesome.

    I loved the cleanser so much, I went back to ask for the mud mask sample (which is a lot more money). Again, I asked for a bunch of samples and I used it twice a week before taking the plunge because I again saw results. My skin has that "glow" and I love it! I highly recommend them both. 🙂
