Each week that goes by, our family’s routine seems to fall more into place. Lincoln’s naps and awake times are becoming more predictable and although we’re still dealing with some issues from the milk allergy (we were at the pediatrician’s again this week), things are good and I’m not feeling as overwhelmed as I was a few weeks ago.
This weekend we started “decking our halls.” We officially put our tree up before Thanksgiving because I want us to enjoy it as long as possible. Those couple of hours of tree-decorating while Christmas music played were seriously blissful. I realize how weird it is to describe it that way, but decorating for Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year (see what I did there?)
Harper pitched in this year as my “special helper.” She even took an entire box of holiday crafting supplies and dumped it onto our ottoman…no amount of vacuuming will ever remedy that situation, but hey, we tried. We’re re-doing our entire living room soon, so that poor ottoman is going to find a home elsewhere in this house anyway. We’re waiting on our sofa to arrive and I’m still hunting for the right coffee table and accent chairs. I also have a vintage piece that’s being refinished to go under our TV that should be ready in the next couple of weeks!
Lincoln started to smile recently! It’s always been one of my favorite milestones because it kind of makes me feel like “oh, you know I exist, and you kind of like me, awesome.” That sounds silly when I read it back to myself, but in those first few weeks of newborn-ness— the ups and downs, lack of sleep, red screaming face and constant feeding, that first smile is like the light at the end of the tunnel.

(why do we still have a pumpkin on the porch?)
In other news, Lincoln’s hair started growing back in on the top/front of his head, and he has these fuzzy little baby hairs that are so soft and sweet.
If you follow me on SnapChat (@veronabrit), you’ve already seen these, but I shared some items I was sent by Lulujo Baby and I’m totally obsessed— their mini muslin cloths are perfect as burp cloths (especially if you have a spitter-upper like we do) and their organic cotton face cloths are the softest wash cloths ever and make bath time even more relaxing for baby. I also love their Turkish towels— they’re just beautiful. And if you missed it on IG, these mugs from Simply Made Greetings make great gifts— and the one below describes my day-to-day life right now pretty accurately.
I hope your weekend was as festive as ours!

Sounds like you had a great weekend decorating your house for Christmas. I feel really behind on it this year because it seems like everyone is done! Love those Turkish towels!

I feel like people decorate for Christmas earlier and earlier every year. I am a firm believer in leaving my fall decorations up until after Thanksgiving. I feel like that poor holiday always gets skipped when it comes to decorations.

I am totally guilty as charged! I can’t help it, I just love Christmas decor so much, I want it up as long as possible. Thanksgiving in Canada, where I grew up, is in October, so there’s a much better separation between the two holidays and it’s right before Halloween so all of the pumpkin decor works so well for that entire month!

I always want my tree up for as long as possible but I think this is the first time I put it up before Thanksgiving…totally worth it!

Can you please remind us of that new liquid foundation you got? I know you talked a lot about it on snapchat but I mistakenly didn’t make note. Thanks!
