Dressing for fall is my favorite— I love cozy sweaters, layering, jackets and accessories like blanket scarves and floppy hats. So today’s post will come as no surprise to y’all!
Last week, I found a gem— that is, an item that looks good online, even better in person, and at a great price point.
I couldn’t resist adding this mock-neck, ribbed sweater to my collection. It’s under $40 from Nordstrom and, as always, ships for free. It’s soft, super long (long enough to wear with leggings) and has some cute side-slits.
I chose the oatmeal color, but also tried it on in the forest green and it’s beautiful. Mine is an XS— It’s meant to have a looser fit so if you’d like that slouchy look, order your regular size.
To complete this outfit, I purchased some adorable tan booties at Nordstrom and paired them with my favorite AG legging jeans. You might remember the recent black pair of booties I purchased with a peep-toe. I decided I would also like a tan pair with a closed toe and found these Sam Edelman booties while shopping at Nordstrom.com. I love that they’re a wedge and have a pointed toe. The color is beautiful and versatile too. They literally go with everything and would also pair well with skirts and dresses.

I styled this sweater a few different ways to show how it can be worn with other fall staples and accessories.
The first accessory I added was a lightweight leopard scarf. A lightweight scarf is a great choice for temperatures that are just starting to cool down.

When it’s colder out (like, I-have-to-turn-on-my-seat warmers-cold), a cozy blanket scarf is essential! This plaid one is one of my favorites of all time. It has the best colors and looks great from fall all the way through the holidays!

Lastly, I wanted to show this sweater layered over another top with leggings and a different pair of booties. As you can see, this sweater is a perfect length for leggings— I’m 5’10 and the length is even on the longer side for me!
I decided to go with a neutral chambray shirt under the sweater and a pair of black Zella leggings. These are so comfy and such a steal! The booties are Sole Society (at Nordstrom) and they’re a great neutral shade that’s a little lighter/on the grayer side than the Sam Edelman ones.

I have a few more sweaters I ordered recently that I can’t wait to share…stay tuned and thanks for reading!

I’m really enjoying all the fashion posts lately! This sweater is very cute, and love that leopard scarf!
Thank you so much Elizabeth! 🙂 I am loving getting back into outfit posting! It’s what my blog was all about from the start, so it’s fun to share that side of me again.
I love this so much! What a great neutral color – it goes with everything! And I love that it looks warm and cozy without being super bulky, so you can layer it. Love love love!
thank you so much Sara <3
this is such a great post, V! I love seeing people style one piece different ways. I am SO excited for fall! 🙂
thank you! I love a versatile piece like this sweater!
I love the way you paired it with the denim shirt underneath! So versatile and cute!
Wow, what a versatile sweater! I love it by itself but with the different scarves it really changes the look. Looks so comfortable!
That sweater is right up my alley. I am 5’10” as well and HATE having to constantly tug most tops down in the back all day.
Your outfit looks really cute! If I could give you one suggestion: the seated pose on the white stairs has really been bothering me for a the past few posts. It kind of looks like you’re floating and is really distracting. Just the standing ones would be great!
I love this so much! Your style is amazing!
I’m loving that sweater, so cute! And I definitely need to add a blanket scarf to my collection this year!!
Oooh, I love all the outfits! I love how you can make so many different outfits with scarves! I can’t wait to wear some comfy sweaters!
thank you! scarves are really such a great accessory!
