My latest trunk was my best trunk yet— I wanted to keep almost everything!
My stylist Hannah picked out some really great winter items and I was especially smitten with a few of them that now have a home in my closet!
If you’ve never heard of Trunk Club before, it’s a service where a personal stylist helps select pieces for your closet based on your needs (everyday essentials, office wear, a special occasion, etc). You then get your trunk shipped to you and you have five days to return anything you don’t want to keep. I love trying clothes on at home where I can see how the pieces work with items I already have in my closet and I can have a few days to think about what I really want to keep (plus, the lighting is a lot better than a store dressing room!)
I’ve been using this service for a while now and it’s my favorite service I’ve tried thus far. Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company, so it carries brands I love and shop regularly. I do 95 percent of my shopping online anyway, so it’s nice to get a trunk every once in a while to help me try new pieces and styles.
The first item in my trunk was this gorgeous chunky turtleneck sweater. I loved the fit and style of this and if I hadn’t gotten this gray turtleneck recently, I would have kept it. It has a cute little tie at the side too. I love the mixed texture as well! The next item in my trunk was this sweater dress with buttons down the back. It’s a little short to be a dress on me, but it looks great as a tunic and I love the color and weave of this sweater. The button detailing makes it feel really special. This scarf (also here) is one that has been on my wish list for quite some time but I didn’t pull the trigger— and my stylist ended up sending me one in this gorgeous forest green color and I adore it and am wearing it today! It’s SO soft and cozy. I sent back this waffle hoodie because it was a little too cropped for me and it’s not versatile enough to wear to the office, but it’s super cute and I do love the style of it. If it was more of a tunic length, I would have kept it to wear with leggings and jeans on weekends. This Zella cardigan had me at hello! I’ve been wearing it nonstop at home and on weekends since it arrived. It drapes so beautifully at the front but can also be worn as an open cardigan if you undo the closures. Such a great casual wear staple and it also has thumb holes. If you’re into athletic wear or athleisure, I highly recommend adding this to your closet! This next item is my new obsession— it’s a gorgeous cropped suede jacket and I don’t own anything like it! I love the color because t’s so neutral and goes with everything. Mine is a size small. I cannot wait to wear this during milder winter days. It’s the perfect topper piece to any outfit. My stylist also sent this jacket in forest green with removable faux fur trim. It’s by the same brand and though it’s stunning, I felt it wasn’t as neutral and that I would get more wear out of the brown one. I almost contemplated keeping both because they’re seriously gorgeous though. I guess the forest green feels a little more “holidays” if that makes sense.I absolutely love the pieces my stylist Hannah picked for this trunk and can’t wait to get another in a couple of months. If you’d like to try Trunk Club, you can sign up for your first trunk here.
*This is not a sponsored post and I pay for my trunk with my own money. I do receive a referral fee if someone signs up— and you can too once you try the service and invite friends!

everything looked nice but you should rethink the following;
the green jacket with your skin tone is so much more flattering than the tan! but I understand that it’s harder to style
the cropped sweater! you cant wear it to the office but weekends!
everything else was a bit oatmeal for my taste but fit you pretty well!

Thank you! I did get a lot of feedback that the green jacket was beautiful (it is!) but I felt the brown one would go with a lot more in my closet.
The other pieces were super neutral but I’m a sucker for neutrals…come spring and summer I’ll inject a little more color again 🙂 I’ve been loving adding color via accessories like the rich jewel tone scarf I kept—it’s a winner!

I have been doing Stitch Fix since July. I know that also did in the past. What is the difference between the two?
Veronika says
Hi! Thanks for your comment. StitchFix has a $20 styling fee that goes towards your purchase and TrunkClub has a try-on fee of $25 that goes towards your purchase. StitchFix is a 3 day return period and Trunk Club is 5 days.
Trunk Club is a Nordstrom brand so the items they send are from brands you’d shop in store (and it’s my favorite place to shop, so this is great for me!) StitchFix also carries a variety of brands and their price points are a little lower than TC— but you can tell your TC stylist what your budget is for different items so that they can send you items within your budget.
One thing I love about TC is that I can send my stylist my wish list of items I love so that she can see what styles I’m into and send similar items. As I mentioned above, I shop at Nordstrom a lot and am familiar with the brands they carry and have several favorites. I find I keep more from my TC than I did with my fixes from SF.

TrunkClub charges $100 to your credit card when you first sign up as a deposit. You can put that toward your purchases. I had no idea and was pretty upset my stylist didn’t tell me.
Veronika says
Hi Kylie,
Do you not recieve those funds back depending on what you purchase? I don’t recall this happening to me. I would contact your stylist to determine whether or not those funds aren’t charged if you do not keep an item that costs $100 or more.
Kylie says
No, they hold the $100 until you spend $100. I was shocked when I saw the charge, and emailed my stylist. She said she didn’t know what it was and would get back to me. I emailed her again and she still didn’t get back to me. I emailed customer service and they called and apologized and said this was a relatively new fee and they would do better at communicating so all of their stylists were aware of it. This is what they said exactly:
The $100 charge on your credit card from July 25th reflects the Trunk Deposit Fee that we charge all new members before their first trunk ships out. The good news is that Trunk Deposit is actually applied to your profile as a store credit that you can use towards any trunk that XX sends out to you.
I’m sorry that our Trunk Deposit Fee was not fully explained to you before the charge went through. We have made an effort to change our marketing since the introduction of our Trunk Deposit Fee but we obviously did not do a good enough job of that, since you were not aware of it.

Thank you so much for sharing this follow-up! I was not aware since I started using the service before this was implemented. However, I easily spend $100 on an item or two with Trunk Club so if this fee went towards my purchase that would work for me!
Kylie says
I should say they called first and then followed up with the email I pasted above. Just to clarify!
Kylie says
Oh yeah, it’s definitely easily to hit $100 in TC store credit! I just didn’t appreciate the total lack of communication about the fee! Even when you look at their website now, they don’t readily supply info on the fee and I’m really not into that lack of transparency.

Great post. Could you do a blog post about health and fitness especially with the New Year about to start. What you usually eat in a day- things like that. What do you do to keep slim and trim? Thanks!

That cropped suede jacket is amazing!!

Veronika says
Hi there! To be honest, I don’t do anything. I don’t exercise or watch what I eat. I just eat every 2-3 hours and I still eat sweets (I was on a restrcited diet when my son had MSPI, but not on that diet anymore). Now that I’m no longer nursing I am trying to find a way to work out again in the morning but it’s hard to wake up so early now that I’ve gotten used to waking up at 6:30. I do plan to share some things I’d like to work on in 2017, but I don’t have diet or workout advice right now since I don’t have any kind of routine for myself. Thanks for your comment and have a great weekend!

I hope you like this service when you try it! 🙂

Can you use your Nordstrom card for Trunk Club purchases? It would be nice to accrue points that way.
Veronika says
That’s a great question and I’m not sure of the answer, sorry 🙁 you can email my rep Hannah or maybe it’s in their FAQs? Have a great day!
Emily says
Hi Veronika — the emerald jacket looks amazing on you! You should think about keeping it! The color is gorgeous and definitely more unique/special than the brown one (although still nice).
Was wondering what size you are wearing in the Zella cardigan? Thanks!
Veronika says
Hi Emily! I sent the green one back but I do love it— maybe my green scarf will make up for the green jacket 🙂 My zella is a size small. Totally obsessed with it!
Becca says
I love all of this!!! Especially so many neutral colors. I am a huge fan of gray tones. I feel like you enjoy more of the items you receive from Trunk Club than you did with StitchFix. Seems like you found a good match.
Happy New Year!
Veronika says
Hi Becca! I am loving Trunk Club 🙂 glad you like all of the neutrals— me too!

Hi, I love the first sweater with the tie on the side. When I clicked on the link, the neck is draped in the Nordstrom picture whereas the neck looks high and tighter on you. I just want to make sure it is the same sweater. Thanks!!
Veronika says
Yes, it is the same sweater! 🙂
