It was really fun doing a live Instastories try-on session with this month’s Trunk Club. I was totally taken aback by how many DMs y’all sent in response to the try-on session so I’ll definitely be doing this every time I get a new trunk (and possibly with all of my online purchases). I watch a lot of try-on sessions on Instastories from my favorite bloggers, so I totally get the appeal of seeing the garments on real people.
If you’ve never read my Trunk Club series before, here’s a breakdown about the service:
Trunk Club is a styling service that’s super personalized. You talk to your stylist over the phone and discuss what’s missing from your closet or a trend you’d like to try, your sizes, what silhouettes work best for your body, etc. The only cost for this service is a $25 styling fee that goes towards your purchase, plus whatever you keep (shipping is free both ways). Ultimately, your stylist’s goal is to send you high-quality timeless staples and budget-friendly trendy items to build a thoughtful wardrobe. One feature I love is that your stylist will send you an email with your trunk in advance, and you can say “send” or “don’t send” to every item. I always choose the “add extra surprises” option too, since I like to see what my stylist will pick.
Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company, so you’ll find that the brands of clothing, accessories and shoes available are similar to what you’d see at Nordstrom, one of my favorite places to shop. I always request that my trunk have a mix of investment pieces and budget-friendly items. When you talk to your stylist, you can let her know how much you usually like to spend on tops, bottoms, handbags, shoes, etc.
I love trying things on in the comfort of my own home and Trunk Club really gives me the chance to take my time to see how items work with the rest of my closet. It’s easier not to make impulse purchases when you have more time to think about things versus being in a brick-and-mortar store.
So, without further ado, here’s what was in my trunk. And in this post, I am wearing these jeans and these heels in my outfit try-ons!
WHITE EYELET DRESS
This dress is so gorgeous— and can be worn both off the shoulder and with the sleeves raised up. It fit great and it totally my style— but I’m sending it back because I have quite a collection of white eyelet dresses, including this one that I just blogged about. However, if you’re looking for a white eyelet dress for summer, this is an excellent option. I like how the skirt flares out a bit too!OFF-THE-SHOULDER POWDER BLUE TOP
This top is really cute, and I would highly recommend it if you’re shorter or petite. The sleeves are unique and I love the way those sides pieces tie— very chic! This top is a little too short for my torso, so sadly I am sending it back. I wish it was a few inches longer, because it’s so pretty and the color is beautiful (also comes in navy).
SWIMSUIT COVER-UP (sold out, other options here)
This swimsuit cover-up is darling, love the ties on the sides. Unfortunately it’s old out (boo) but I linked some other styles. The fabric is breezy and lightweight.
OFF THE SHOULDER DRESS
Y’all know I have (and adore) this dress in the navy color and OMG this sunny yellow…it is SO cute and so many of you told me to keep it…while I usually don’t love owning two of one item, I may have to make an exception here because this dress is amazing. I’m thinking it would be perfect for our trip to Toronto to have dinner with friends. This is a size small and guys, this dress is SO flattering and easy to wear. If you haven’t purchased it yet, you really should consider it. I also adore it in the blush color (called “pink smoke”).
OFF THE SHOULDER SMOCKED TOP
This top had me at hello— it’s so cute and I just love the smocking detail and the layered ruffles. This is such a summer staple— perfect for brunch, lunch, or any occasion. It’s going to look perfect with shorts and sandals or wedges. What do y’all think of this one?
MINT WORKOUT TANK | PINK WORKOUT TANK
I wanted to love these. Correction— I DO love them. The microstripes on them are so cute, the material is fantastic and the designs are perfect. BUT… for my body, they just aren’t as long as I’d like them. I wear higher-wasited leggings when I work out, but I like my workout tanks to be a little longer so they cover more. Just a personal preference, but since I’m tall with a long torso, I feel that’s what suits my figure better. These tops are amazing and if they were a few inches longer, I would 100% have kept them. I thought about sizing up— but these tops are both mediums, which is what I would have sized up to. Sadly, these are going back, but I do love them.
ADIDAS GAZELLE SNEAKER
I love these (they also come in pink— swoon) but if I was going to get them, I would get the pink. The mint is super cute, but I think blush is more versatile. Having said all of this, I wear my Nikes to the gym and sometimes wear converse on weekends, so I know they wouldn’t get as much use since I (obviously) can’t wear them to work.
LONG CARDIGAN + WHITE BUTTON-FRONT SHORTS
This summer weight cardigan is really cute (yes, I am wearing shorts in this picture, it’s just that long, haha). I like the stripes and pockets, but ultimately it didn’t wow me.
The shorts are really cute t00— I like the buttons at the front and they fit well, I just didn’t feel 100% sold on them. I would love to get some white or colorful shorts this summer, but I would like to try more styles until I find one I just love like I did with my black Paige denim shorts last summer.
PERFORATED CROSS BODY BAG
I was tempted to keep this gorgeous bag, but I do have the tote version and couldn’t justify it since I have a lot of cute crossbodies already. But if you’re in the market— it’s well-made, amazingly priced for how it looks and goes with everything.
I hope you enjoyed this post! My Instagram story try-on session should be available until about 10:30 AM tomorrow (Sunday) if you’d still like to view it.

I’m so surprised you’re not keeping the crossbody, it was darling on you! (I’m being a total bad influence here ?). Such a good round of items!

Hi Veronika, what size are you wearing here in the off shoulder powder blue top?
Veronika says
It’s a size small!
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
I love that cardigan! But then again, I like grey and comfy 🙂 I appreciated you explaining why you do or don’t keep items. I purchase things I like even if I kind of know I won’t wear them much, and I have a closet full of clothes that are just taking up space. This reminds me that I need to be more mindful!
Veronika says
Sam- thanks for your comment! I definitely make some purchases myself that I later realize weren’t the best option. Live and learn!

I love the ruffled blue top. I want to get it but I’m worried it will make me look bigger than I am. It does look really flattering on you. I wonder if I should go ahead and order it….
Veronika says
Hi Amanda! I think the ruffles almost help camouflage any problem areas- but Nordstrom has free shipping and returns so you’re good to go! 🙂
Amanda says
Thank you 🙂

Hi! I see you posting about Trunk Club often and once in a while I check to see if they ship to Canada and they still don’t. It’d be nice to offer alternatives as I’m sure you know, you have quite a few Canada based fans reading. A service like this would be awesome, but with my resources I haven’t been able to find an equivalent. Maybe you would happen to know one?
Veronika says
Hi Chris! I wish I did know of some Canadian-based styling services like Trunk Club. It’s always so frustrating to see the crazy shipping fees and taxes/border fees Canadians have to pay.
