Eyebrows are undoubtedly one of the most important, yet often neglected aspects of your appearance. Good brows can change your look in a magnificent way (after all, brows essentially frame your face) and it’s no wonder that brow products and procedures like microblading have become so popular.
Every cosmetic brand is perfecting their brow products because more women want thicker, more youthful looking brows and it can be challenging to get that look while still looking natural.
I used to over-pluck my brows in a major way…I cringe looking back at old photos. It wasn’t until I started modeling in my teens and my agency took one look at me and told me to drop my tweezers like a bad relationship. I didn’t tweeze for about 8 weeks and my dark, thick brows grew back. After that, I was told not to touch them and looking back, they were perfect.
When I quit modeling, I went through another tweezer-happy phase and eventually I realized that thin, shapeless brows were doing nothing for me. Thicker brows became trendier, too, so it made sense to grow them out again and by the time I finished college, I was well on my way to the brows I have now. Though I’ve been told over the years that my brows are “too thick” I wouldn’t have them any other way!
Rehabing brows is quite the process, but I promise it’s worth it. Here’s how to do it, plus the brow products I love.

Lash growth serums are wildly popular – but brow growth serums are available too! I used RapidBrow for a couple of months recently to help fill in gaps and increase growth. I definitely lost some brow volume over the years and especially after having children, so I’m all about the serums.
I did notice some results even using the RapidBrow product once a day, but it is meant to be used twice a day for optimal results. I’d like to try some more brow serums to help make them even thicker (like this one, this one, or this one). The key is to use the serums and DO NOT under any circumstances tweeze, wax or anything else for 6-8 weeks so you can give your brows a full growth cycle. If you’ve been tweezing or waxing for many years, you may notice certain areas don’t grow back at all – follicles can experience permanent damage.
For an inexpensive option, you can try castor oil on your brows each night – many in amazon reviews swear by it as a growth serum.

Find someone in your area that specializes in brows and get a consult for what your brow shape should be. They have brow measuring tools that can help ensure your brows fit your face shape and structure and they can also shape them into that ideal shape. You should find someone who can share examples of their work – don’t just go to anyone that waxes (try searching hashtags on Instagram to find good brow professionals or asking friends with good brows for recommendations). I personally do my own brows, but every six months or so I will have them professionally tweezed to create a shape I can maintain at home.

Trying for a very severe arch when you have really straight brows or vice-versa can look forced. I have super straight brows but I have a very slight arch shaped in towards the ends. My philosophy is to stay closer to you natural brow shape than to try and change it completely. It’s easier to maintain and usually suits your face better.T I N T
Where has brow tinting been all my life? A blogger I follow (Liz) shared that she tints her brows on her Instagram stories once and I was like SIGN ME UP! I knew brow tinting existed, but I thought it was just for people with really light hair – nope! Brow tinting is for anyone. It can deepen brows and create the illusion that you have more fullness. I plan to have mine tinted next month. The downside is that it only lasts about a month or so. I pay $25 to have it done, which isn’t bad. I barely have to fill them when I have them tinted.

Brow pencils, powders, waxes, pomades…the choices are legit overwhelming. Which option is best for you is probably dependent on what kind of outcome you want. Right now I’m very into the “natural brow” look but in the past I’ve used pencils and powders to make them look more defined.
For natural brows, I love the new brow gels and fiber gels. They are basically tiny mascara wands that deposit a tinted gel to your brows to make them appear darker and fill in sparse areas…all while having a totally natural look and texture. The ones I love currently are Gimme Brow by Benefit and Revlon Brow Mousse.
I also use and love pencils and powder. My two favorite pencils are this one by Anastasia of Beverly Hills and this one by It Cosmetics. For brow powder, I love this Anastasia duo with this brush. You can create more of that “Instagram brow” (read: highly defined, heavily powdered) with these products, but they’re also great for natural looking brows if you use a light hand.
I have tried brow pomades but have found they’re not for me. They tend to create a heavier brow and I like to still see brow hairs when I fill mine. However, I know a lot of people that love them. The one I’ve tried is Dipbrow.

Thank you for this post! My normally thick brows have thinned with age and over waxing/plucking. I am very interested in helping them grow in thicker and look fuller. I just recently started using brow powder for the first time and it sounds silly, but I feel like it changed my life – I am SO much happier with how my brows look now. But I still wish I could get them to GROW in thicker as I prefer a natural look to a more made-up look. Thank you again! Your brows look great!

I definitely noticed more inconsistency and hair loss with my brows as I age — that’s why I started using the serums. Brow powder is great! It’s amazing how filling in brows a bit gives you confidence 🙂

Where in Houston do you get your brows tinted?
