I hear you loud and clear: more work wear posts! My work wear has evolved so drastically over the years and especially since becoming a mom. Gone are the days of fussy outfits with silk blouses, pencil skirts and dresses. I love that style, but I’ve found myself feeling more comfortable and put together when I wear pants (not to mention it’s no-brainer to get dressed and out of the house each morning!)
One thing I’ve never strayed from is my love for crisp, classic dress shirts. They never go out of style and dress up any outfit. I often wear a button-up shirt when I have meetings or important shoots. It just feels more formal than a blouse or top.
I don’t own a short-sleeved button-up and got this one on sale recently (here too!). In today’s post, I’m showing it on its own, paired with my favorite blazer and with one of my open long cardigans.
I love the shirt on its own and will especially enjoy the short sleeves come summer. Under a blazer or cardigan though, it passes for a normal long-sleeved button up. The pockets are a nice touch too – I think this top could work just as well with jeans.shirt (here too) | pants | studded sandals (similar here)| bag | earrings | sunglasses (here too)
This blazer (love this one with gold buttons as well!) is the only one I wear now! Mine is a size 4 tall and it fits perfectly. I love the collarless look and how it’s more of a cropped style. If you have an important meeting, it’s the perfect piece to throw over any top or blouse. It even dresses up a plain tee – and looks great as a way to dress up jeans/give yourself an edgier look by putting it over a lace trim blouse for date night (I have this one and it’s a splurge but amazing – inexpensive option here and here).
A long cardigan is such a staple piece in every closet – this is one I got this winter and wear to the office all the time. I love its deep pockets and the neutral color goes with everything.
I hope y’all enjoyed this work wear post! Have a great week and happy Spring Break if yours is this week!
SHOP THE POST:
Love the post! I love the look of button-up shirts, but I can never find one that fits me and doesn’t make me feel frumpy. Any favorites you’d recommend?
I work in a very casual environment, but would feel really weird having my feet exposed. I would probably swap the sandals for flats. I really need to give those Old Navy pants a try. They look really nice.
Rachel – here in Texas, we wear open toe shoes to work all summer – however, I usually wear flats or pumps to work – I just wanted to show these with the outfit because they’re new and fun! I like a nude pump for everyday or my Rothy’s.
