Thank you Serena & Lily for partnering on this post!
Watching my home style evolve over the last decade since becoming a h0meowner has been a fun journey – a mix of ah-ha! moments and a lot of trial and error, too. That’s part of what makes it so thrilling when you really start to nail down your style preferences and aesthetic.
I still remember when Pinterest first launched and how suddenly, this entire beautiful world of home design was at everyone’s fingertips. I always enjoyed decorating and making spaces my own (I had dark purple walls and fuzzy leopard bedding in high school, LOL! Bless my mom for letting me do that!) but Pinterest opened up a whole new world of home decor and design inspiration for the large majority of us who weren’t subscribing to shelter magazines or hiring interior designers for our own homes.
I recently listened to a Podcast where designer Vern Yip was being interviewed and so much of what he said really resonated with me. He talked about how making your home a space you love should be a priority because it sets the tone for how you feel both in your home and outside of it. I couldn’t agree more with this. Some people love designer bags or flying first class or expensive studio fitness classes (nothing wrong with prioritizing any of these things btw) – but for me, the most important investment when it comes to “things” is our home. It’s what I prioritize because it makes me so happy to live in a space full of things I love from both an aesthetic and functional standpoint.
Though I love to mix and match different styles, over the years, I’ve definitely become enamored with a coastal/Palm Beach inspired home aesthetic. I love adding coastal elements to our home, so it’s n0 wonder I’ve made several home purchases from Serena & Lily over the years. They have such a modern/fresh take on coastal style and their pieces make such an impact, no matter what the style of your home – I feel like the pieces are versatile enough to work in many spaces from modern to traditional.
Below I’m breaking down my favorites – the items we own and love and a couple wish list items.
Cavallo linen sheet set | We just got these sheets – we’ve been married for a decade and this is our first time really investing in high-quality linens. I have always wanted to try linen sheets – I have a couple of friends who swear by them. They’re supposed to keep you cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold. They’re made in Portugal with the best European linen. I’ll be sure to report back on how we like them – we got the white but I also love the light blue!
teak step stool | We’ve had this stool for almost two years and it’s one of the most asked-about items every time I share it on my stories. It was in the kid’s shared bathroom and is now in Lincoln’s since they each have their own full baths now. I love that it has the two levels and it’s such incredible quality.
Lanai mirror | I purchased this mirror after wallpapering the kids bathroom in our last home with Serena& Lily’s Feather wallpaper. I love it so much that I actually made it an exclusion from our last home’s sale and took it with me to our new home – I love it in Lincoln’s bathroom! It adds that perfect texture into his black and white space. PS – it also comes in a larger size if you need it for a master bathroom or to hang over a dresser or console.
Blake raffia console | I adore this raffia console. I have wanted a grasscloth-like piece of furniture for some time now as I love the texture it adds to a space. I had a wall off of our kitchen in our last home and nothing felt right there until I found this console – I love styling it and the shelf is great to hold coffee table books, a bowl for your car keys – anything, really!
Riviera chair | These chairs had been on my wish list for a long time and I vowed to purchase them whenever we moved into our next home. Well, now we have them, and I just can’t express enough how great they are – comfortable, wipeable and they look so chic! We really wanted a “breakfast nook” look to our space and these chairs just nail it. Plus, they’re easy to clean, so no worries about spills!
Ojai mirror | I ordered this bamboo mirror as an option for our master bathroom – though we ultimately needed larger mirrors for the space, these are gorgeous, particularly on a wallpapered wall or a wall with a contrasting color. Perfect for a powder room, over a desk or console, etc. They do come in a larger size in black!
Border frame bedding (french blue) | I had my heart set on French blue for Lincoln’s big boy room but still wanted the base to be white. Enter the Border frame duvet cover and pillows – the perfect pop of color – and a totally classic and timeless design. We do fun printed bed sheets with his favorite things like construction trucks, but the duvet cover is something I opted to keep neutral. This bedding washes well and is fantastic quality.
South seas console | I just ordered this console for our family room/game room area. I have always loved the bar cart version but wanted a larger piece for our space since it’s very open and has lots of blank walls right now since we still have to furnish the entire space. I love the natural rattan and how it’s such a versatile piece with the two levels. I can’t wait to share it when it arrives!
Outdoor riviera armchair | Now that we have a backyard and covered patio, I’m SO excited to plan our outdoor living space. I just saw that Serena & Lily reimagined their best-selling Riviera chairs for outdoor use and I am here for it! How gorgeous is the light blue color? I need to add these to my wish list.
Driftway tall dresser | This is a total dream item, but if I could do any bedside dressers they would be this shade of blue and this texture. Wow. They’re just so stunning and would make such a huge impact in any space, bedroom or beyond!
Have a great week!
