Y’all were all so sweet and supportive when I shared about my colonoscopy last week. It’s so important to be proactive about your health and if you notice any changes in your bowel behaviors or have any pain, please talk to your doctor.
Colon cancer is on the rise in younger age groups – here is an article about the signs and symptoms and when to talk to your doctor. The age for starting colonoscopy screenings has now been changed to 45 years old.
I was happy to learn this week that my colon biopsies came back normal – but it’s always better to be safe than sorry and I’m glad I took the extra step to have the colonoscopy done for my peace of mind when I noticed some new and concerning symptoms.
The kids go back to school next week and I have to admit I’ve felt a great level of grief and anger that our children are once again facing a school year filled with uncertainty and lack of normalcy due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, especially here in Houston/Texas.
I truly thought this would all be over now and we are arguably in worse situation (as it relates to transmission & hospitalizations rates) than when we originally went on lockdown in 2020. I know a lot of you are also in the same boat – concerned about the risks for your children and wondering what else you can do to keep the safe – please know you’re not alone in these worries.
We’ve reminded the kids about the importance of masks, hand washing, distancing, etc. and we are fortunate that masking will be enforced. I ordered them some 5-ply masks to use (we also use these surgical style masks).
I also got the kids some new sneakers to start the school year with – you can shop them here.
Those first two posts were pretty heavy – so let’s talk something lighter. This Kevin Aucoin Glass Glow product went viral on TikTok and I purchased it immediately and can’t wait for it ti arrive (it was on backorder in the clear color). It can be worn over or under makeup and is supposed to give skin an amazing glow. I’ve been using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter every single day under my foundation and I’m addicted, so I can’t wait to try this.
I’ve been working on establishing a new routine and so far it’s going pretty well! I took a few days off post-colonoscopy and I kept the kids home from summer care this week so the timing has been a bit thrown off, but overall things are good. I love starting off my morning with movement – it energizes me for the day and makes me feel like I accomplished something right off the bat.
I love drinking water and recently got this massive 40 oz tumbler. It helps ensure I’m drinking all day and I have to refill it a little less often than my 32oz tumbler I used to use. I love that it has a handle, too! I did switch the straw that comes with it for my Starbucks tumbler straw which is thinner. My only dislike is the straw size, but it’s an easy switch.
The set I’m wearing here was gifted to me by Spanx – I adore the dark plum color. You can shop this set here!
I’m sharing some style finds for the office, weekend and more!
