How To: Lana Del Rey’s Makeup

You know I love Lana Del Rey. I sung her praises awhile ago and now I’m sharing this tutorial with you by the lovely Samantha Chapman (PixieWoo) on YouTube.
(Sorry for those who thought it was me doing the tutorial— I wish I was as talented as this gal!)



 
 

In the tutorial, she uses brushes from her own line, Real Techniques, to achieve Lana’s signature look—long and lush lashes, winged liner and super-plumped lips.
 
 
Real Techniques sent me their shading brush to test out—and though I’m not much of an eyeshadow person (I prefer simple liner for everyday—more Kate Middleton than a smokey eye with lots of different shadows and blending) I have been using the brush to blend out concealer and it’s lovely for that.

I actually use various eye makeup brushes to blend out my concealer. Sometimes, the fibers, shape or size of the brush are simply a better fit for a concealing job. Do you ever use any makeup brushes outside of what they are intended for?

    I am like you and rarely wear eyeshadow, just some eyeliner and I am good to go. This brush would be nice for occasions that I do wear eyeshadow, but I would like to try it for other purposes as you did as well! [email protected]

    I'm wearing eye shadows quite often. I really like to wear light purple or light browns, or champagne colors to open up my eyes. I mostly use brushes for what they're made for, but sometimes I cheat. I do use a contouring brush for example to blend in the Benefit Eye Bright around my eyes. Or I use my foundation brush to blend in my cream blush…

    Nice! I have not used brushes for other areas of the face than intended- unless swapping my powder and blush brushes counts. I don't really have enough to do that, though.

    OK, I'm going to show my lack of pop culture knowledge and admit that I've never heard of Lana Del Ray before, but PixieWoo's tutorial was great (as always) – such a great fresh look.

    P.S. I'm on day 4 of my 30 day fitness challenge and feeling great (if a bit sore) – your post about fitness in May seems to have gotten me out of my workout slump – thank you! 🙂
