I hope your week is going well! I have today off of work and am selecting fabrics for our game room window seat cushions and a roman shade for our kitchen window. Can’t wait for share which fabrics I choose. One of the fabrics I’m considering is this Schumacher one. We have bamboo woven shades everywhere else, but I wanted a fun print for the kitchen window.

White Fragility
I’ve had a hard time listening to audiobooks during working from home since I don’t have a commute, but in my commitment to continue learning about systemic racism and white privilege, I started this book and it has been eye opening. Growing up in Canada (which is not an excuse, but for context), I did not fully understand the full magnitude of white supremacy and white privilege and how deeply rooted it is in the culture of this country (of course racism exists and is alive and well in Canada too). I truly believe that every white person should view this book as required reading. Many white people do not think they have white privilege and do not or choose not to see white supremacy and how it impacts our socialization, beliefs and biases. You cannot change what you don’t acknowledge and after reading this book, it is impossible to deny it.
Right now, I have put all other reading on hold and am devoting all of my Audible hours to books about racism, white privilege and the Black experience. The only way we can change anything for the next generation is if we educate ourselves and do the work to help both see our role in and dismantle these systems. I also highly recommend the award-winning Documentary “The 13th” on Netflix. Next on my list are So You Want to Talk About Race and Me and White Supremacy.
Monopoly Jr. | Scrabble Jr. | Connect 4
We have been having regular family game nights and I just ordered these three games for us to enjoy!
Kids flower sunglasses
I love these sunglasses for kids! Harper has a few pairs so I just got these white ones.
Pearl beaded sunglasses chain
I have a tortoise shell chain from last summer and saw this pearl one and had to have it – so granny chic! Haha.
Stainless steel cleaner
I saw this raved about in a Buzzfeed article and ordered it. TBD on how good it is, but the reviews are amazing.
Outdoor deck cabinet
What a game changer! Our covered porch was a total disaster before this cabinet. It stores our pool stuff, sunscreen, pool toes, shoes, etc. I just love how it keeps it all beautifully contained and has shelves. It’s also got a woven pattern on the outside, so it’s a little less of an eyesore. Excuse the mess, haven’t organized it yet.
We love our INTEX pool! It makes being at home all the time a little more fun. The kids swim/ splash around in it several times a week and we usually go in on weekends! It’s the 10ft one. It’s not “pretty,” but we have a blast in it!
Elle Décor | House Beautiful | Southern Living
I somehow started missing print magazines. I only care for shelter magazines now, so these were the three I subscribed to via amazon. I like reading while I sip my morning coffee on weekends. It’s nice to read something in print versus always on my phone.
Wicker side table
I have been stalking the website for a re-stock of this stool similar to Mainly Baskets scalloped wicker side table. My dream is this console, but the price tag is significant, so this is a nice way to get the look for less. Serena & Lily Balboa dupe
I got this side table for Lincoln to use as a bedside table and this console. I was going to use it in Harper’s room but it looked too dinky in there, scale wise. I finally faced that had to reimagine her space. I kept trying to find a way to make the dresser work on one side of her bed and another piece on the other, but at the end of the day, the best thing for the space is to have two identical pieces flanking the bed with identical mirrors. What can I say? I’m a fan of symmetry.
Harper has a vintage Henry Link Bali Hali dresser that I had refinished for her room years ago and I ended up finding two matching henry link reproductions on Etsy in Florida. They will be shipped to me in the next month or so and I plan to refinish them myself. They’re a little less wide than her current dresser, so I think they’ll be perfect to flank the bed.
Emilia Collection
I was gifted this top from Emilia Collection. The pieces are hand embroidered by artisans in Mexico. I love it so much – they have so many great color combos. It’s also a Houston-based company which I love! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
