Candice & I drove to Round Top last Sunday morning and had the best time – it wasn’t busy at all since we got there right when it opened! I purchased two pieces of art that are at the framer’s right now – can’t wait to hang them! Here are the frames I chose for each piece:

I had a zoom meeting with my functional medicine doctor yesterday and it went so well and I feel like I’m on a really good path. We went over both my blood labs and the saliva testing I did.
When I originally looked at my labs, some of my values were “off,” so I started to get nervous – but I told myself not to jump to conclusions and wait for the doctor to go over everything. I’ll admit I did google a few things, but ultimately, I knew that individual blood labs and saliva results would not give me any information unless the values were looked at as a whole – and I just don’t have the knowledge to put those values into context.
I was expecting our meeting to go in a totally different direction than it did, but overall, my doctor told me my levels were good and that I was healthy and had no hormonal issues. I told her I was on prozac now and have seen so many positive changes and we also discussed the book The Body Keeps the Score, which delves into how trauma is stored in and affects every system of the body. Ultimately, she thinks decades of chronic stress, anxiety and living in fight or flight mode affected my brain, gut and nervous system, and being in a more balanced place will allow me to heal and move forward. If you’re looking for a functional MD in Houston, check out Dr. Ginsburg’s website, here. She is an OB/GYN so she has great knowledge about hormones and gut health.
My doctor recommended that I continue to eat gluten-free and take my probiotic. I’ll also be looking into other gut healing methods like bone broth – I’ve read so many positive things about it.
I’m thankful to have some peace of mind about my symptoms and overall health. Now that I’m in a better and more calm mindset, this kind of information just further validates that I can and will continue to heal and progress.
