Happy Friday! I haven’t done one of these in a while and I have so much goodness to share!
The Defined Dish
You absolutely MUST get Alex Snodgrass’ The Defined Dish cookbook. My goodness, what a DREAM! So far I’ve had the chicken + sausage jambalaya with cauliflower rice and the magic mustard sauce chicken dish and they are both excellent and Whole 30 compliant (I’m not doing Whole 30, but the book is full of compliant recipes, which tend to be “cleaner” if you’re trying to eat more healthfully). I have loved Alex’s website for some time and this cookbook has so many great recipes!
The Other Mrs. Miller
I just finished The Other Mrs. Miller on Audible a couple of days ago and enjoyed it! It had some dark and gruesome parts and the storyline had quite a few twists and turns (which I love). Although it wasn’t a very plausible storyline overall, I enjoyed the book and it was definitely a page-turner. Next up for me is The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee (she also wrote one of my recent faves, American Royals).
Puffed Sleeves, Please
I will never not love the scene in Anne of Green Gables (legit one of my all-time favorite books/movies) where our darling Anne Shirley requests a dress with “puffed sleeves.” Luckily for us, the trend is back and it’s oh-so-good. I purchased this blouse and this sweatshirt – forever thankful for Anne Shirley’s trend-setting.
Water Flossing
I recently switched dentists and was a month late for my bi-annual cleaning. Due to my Invisalign treatment, I now floss and brush every single time I eat. Despite this, and religiously cleaning my Invisalign trays, I had a ton of plaque build-up on the backs of my teeth (thank goodness it’s all gone now). I never flossed before Invisalign (I know, it’s gross, don’t @ me!) and now floss constantly, so this was pretty shocking to me. My hygienist recommended I try a water flosser, so I ordered this one because it has a high volume of reviews, and most are good. I can’t wait to start using it, because I thought I was doing an excellent job flossing, but I guess I need something a little more heavy duty. Live and learn!
Home Updates
Next week, we are having our gallery wall installed in the hallway that leads to our master bedroom – I can’t wait! It was one of my favorite features in our last home. I plan to update it with some of our newer family photos taken on the beach last year.
I’m really trying to complete rooms and spaces more quickly in our new home so we can enjoy them and feel settled, but a lot of items are taking quite some time to come in (like our Pottery Barn sofa, which takes 6-9 weeks).
I’ve also ordered some curtain rods for our home (these brass ones for our bedroom & Harper’s room) and these matte black ones for Lincoln’s. I haven’t even started looking into woven shades for our windows – if you have these (bamboo woven shades) please message me your recommendations! I’ve looked into Smith and Noble, The Shade Store, Select Blinds, etc.
I plan to either paint and/or wallpaper both kids rooms, and recently found these amazing wallpapers by Lulie Wallace. Wallpaper is a big commitment, so I’m still looking at options and I’ll likely just do an accent wall because wallpaper (both the paper and install cost is $$$$). I think I’d wallpaper every room in my house if I could – there are words I never thought I’d say – but the newer wallpapers are just SO GOOD!
A mini splurge
I finally gave in and purchased a Truffle clarity clutch in the mini size (I got mine at Biscuit Home, but you can get them online, here). I have it in their limited edition power pink color – it’s SO cute! I like it because it doesn’t get bunchy in my LV Pochette Metis bag. I also love that I can see what’s inside of it (I keep a lot of my Invisalign stuff like travel toothpaste, etc, in it). The larger sizes are great for travel, but this small one is perfect for your smaller/crossbody bags.
WATCH THIS NOW!
Guys, there have been so many good shows lately. God bless Netflix.
1. Season 2 of YOU (Netflix). It was so good and also disturbing. Better than season 1, but watch that too if you haven’t already. It has already been renewed for season 3. Praise!
2. Spinning Out (Netflix). Do yourself a favor and begin watching this ASAP. I read an article that describes it as “The Cutting Edge meets I, Tonya” and I couldn’t agree more. This is one of my most favorite series I’ve watched in quite some time. Currently crossing all my fingers and toes for a second season.
3. Cheer – documentary (Netflix). I hope every person working for Netflix is getting a raise at this point, because I literally can’t peel myself off of the couch at night due to their insanely good programming. This is a documentary about the Navarro cheer team at a junior college in Corsicana, TX and it’s intense, heartwarming, sad and inspiring all at once. We can. We will. We MUST!
SHOP THIS POST:
That Rebecca Minkoff sweatshirt is probably the cutest puffed sleeve top I’ve seen! And I LOVE that it’s a sweatshirt. It looks soo comfy yet classy to dress up or down. Curious to see how the sleeve and waist length fit. Please do a try on!
I am really looking forward to hearing about you invisalign experience:) I hope to see you document this process soon!
I’m looking forward to hearing about your Invisalign journey!
My hygienist said my plaque buildup behind my teeth during Invisalign was due to not angling my toothbrush towards the gumline enough. Just that simple change in form made a huge difference.
Do you use a soniccare? I use a water flosser now which I’m hoping will solve this issue altogether 🙂
